Karakoram Highway is a 1300km long highway, a mammoth project which is often regarded as the 8th wonder of the world. It is also the emblem of friendship, also known as ‘Friendship Highway’. The herculean task has witnessed numerous sacrifices so much so that famous proverb ‘A life lost every km of the road’ came into being. The documentary film “Where Men and Mountains Meet” showcases the construction and completion of the project.

Project Update: 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐤, 𝐑𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢
DG FWO reviewed progress of Ammar Chowk Project on 11 December 2021. He was briefed about the latest project activities. DG expressed satisfaction over the pace of development works and appreciated the efforts of FWO construction teams. With its inauguration scheduled within this month, InshAllah this project will help ease out the previously experienced traffic congestion at Ammar Chowk

𝟭𝟵 𝗔𝗽𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭: 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆, 𝗜𝘀𝗯
PM Imran Khan performed ground breaking of 35 km long Margalla Highway (Northern Bypass) Phase-1 on 19 April 2021. This project is expected to be completed in one year, and will greatly benefit the local community besides facilitating tourists in travelling to/from Murree and Galiyat.

𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻
Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Mr Jawed Salim Qureshi carried out earthbreaking of national level Tunneling Institute of Pakistan, conceptualised by FWO at Islamabad. Engineer-in-Chief Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz, HI(M), Director General FWO and officers from both PEC and FWO graced the occasion with their presence. This institute is contemplated to serve as a foundation in the fields of tunneling, aerial surveying and Building Information Modeling in the country. The building is likely to be completed by June 2021

PROJECT UPDATE:𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐚-𝐊𝐡𝐚𝐫-𝐌𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐆𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝
Timergara-Khar-Mamad G*t Road (71 km long) starts from Mamad G*t, passes through Bajaur District and ends at Timergara.
PM Imran Khan performed groundbreaking ceremony of this road on 28 Sep 2020. Work has commenced and FWO plans to complete it by June 2022.
Upon its completion, large population of the area will InshAllah benefit from enhanced commercial activities in the region

Construction of new O&M buildings of latest design at Karachi and Hyderabad toll plazas of M-9 Motorway is in full swing.These facilities will provide a better and controlled operational environment to work and facilitate the commuters.
Modern M-Tag facilities are also being developed at both Karachi & Hyderabad toll plazas with multiple customer service counters for swift M-Tag recharge.

New Hyderabad Toll Plaza on M-9 has been completed and will be operational with effect from 24 Dec 2020. This largest toll plaza of the country, comprising 24 lane with 6 entry and 18 exit points, will substantially help in eliminating traffic congestion, thus, ensuring contented commuting with reduced entry / exit time. Besides, state of the art IT infrastructure linked with hybrid power system shall be supporting uninterrupted tolling operations for a peaceful and smooth traffic flow.

FWO has mobilized construction team for the ex*****on of Dadocha Dam today. The project will be completed in two and half years Inshah Allah and would supply 35 Million Gallons of water per day to the residents of Rawalpindi and adjoining areas. This would reduce our reliance on tube wells and improve surface level storages.𝐃𝐚𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.
