🔹️ SEERAT STUDY CENTRE, SIALKOT CANTT

On 17 February, 1987, an educational centre of international level, fully dedicated to study and research on the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH, was established in the city of Sialkot. This Research centre was named “Seerat Study Centre” (سیرت سٹڈی سینٹر)and is located on southeren edge of Khayaban – e – Iqbal, Ghazi Road, Sialkot Cantt. This initiative was taken by Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Sialkot.

The pioneer and the first donor of the International Seerat Study Centre was the Late Muhammad Anwar Khawaja of the Anwar Khawaja Industries. Its inauguration was done by the Late President of Pakistan Gen. Muhammad Zia Ul Haq, who himself was the Patron in Chief of the centre. The following are the members of its executive committee :-

- President : DCO Sialkot.
- Senior Vice President : Mr. Khawaja Masood Akhtar (Forward Sports)
- General Secretary : Mr. Asad Ijaz.

During first All Pakistan National Seerat Conference, held on 2nd January 1986, it was unanimously decided to establish an Academic forum to study and research the Seerat e Nabwi PBUH . Hence during the regime of Gen. Muhammad Zia Ul Haq, an order was passed to lay the foundation of Seerat Study Centre, spreading throughout an area of 10 kanal, in Sialkot city . This historic project was carefully supervised by Prof. Muhammad Abdul Jabbar (Ex. Principal of Islamia College, Sialkot) with a keen interest.

🌟 LIBRARY OF SEERAT STUDY CENTRE

Seerat Study Centre has the largest ‘Islamic Library’ of northern Punjab consisting of over 10,000 books related to Arabic language, Seerat e Nabwi, Iqbaliat, Tassawauf, Tafseer (Commentaries), Fiqh (Jurisprudence), History of Islam, Hadith, Seerat-e-Sahabah (سیرت صحابہ), Sub-continent history and other worthy literature. An annual journal of Seerat Study Center named ‘Jarreda e Seerat’ (جریدہ سیرت), is published with successful efforts & contributions of its students and staff. It is in area of 82 x 62 sq.ft. This library is open for public and anyone can visit it between 08:00 am and 05:00 pm, except Sundays, to read variety of books. It also has free facility of Internet and WiFi.

There are separate cabins (including table, chair, lamp) for PhD students to study in a quiet and attentive atmosphere. Government College Women University, Sialkot has signed an MOU agreement in 2015 with Seerat Study Centre for carrying the M.Phil and PhD Islamic Studies classes & further research in its Library. Their research work can be read at a separate section in this library. Many books on Allama Iqbal can be found in this library. Mr. Muhammad Rizwan is the current librarian of the library of Seerat Study Centre.

🌟 ANWAR KHAWAJA HALL

On the second floor, Just adjacent to the Library, is an auditorium that can accommodate around 300 persons. The antique styled chairs and little wooden work at the walls provides a more literary ambience to listen to the lecturers. It is in an area of 100 x 62 sq.ft. Multiple annual International Seerat Conferences have been held here, organized by Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Government College Women University, Sialkot.

Notable Islamic scholars like Maulana Imran Bashir, Ustazah Nighat Hashmi and many others from various countries have come here and given important lectures. Monthly sessions by THINKER’S FORUM SIALKOT also takes place at Amnwar Khawaja Hall at 11 am, on the last Sunday of every month.

🌟 FIRST FLOOR OF SEERAT STUDY CENTRE

On the first floor of this historic building, Al Huda International Institute has been facilitated . This platform teaches Quran Tafseer and other Islamic topics to the keen & enrolled female students. Classes for memorizing the Holy Quran are conducted in the Seerat Study Centre Masjid for children under the age of 12. “Masjid Seerat e Tayyaba” (مسجد سیرت طیبہ) was inaugrated by the late President of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Rafiq Tarrar on 14th April 1999. On the same floor, there are four rooms for the scholars to live, while they are around, during an International conference.

The office of the General Secretary and other admin offices are present on the first floor. If any educational platform/institute wants to collaborate with Seerat Study Centre for arranging any seminar / conference / lecture, then he is supposed to take official written permission from the current District Commissioner (DC) of Sialkot, as he presides over the Executive Committee of the centre. Educated group of Sialkot city should play an effective role in supporting such unique platform, in order to promote Islamic, moral and ethical values in our city.

🌟 OBJECTIVES OF SEERAT STUDY CENTER :-


Seerat Study Centre is a Center of Excellence with the main objective to conduct a fine research on various aspects of Seerat e Tayyibah PBUH, in order to evolve solutions to complex problems faced by the modern Muslim world in the social, economic, political and scientific spheres. It has also been mandated to eradicate sectarianism and create harmony among Muslims on the basis of the doctrine of finality of Prophethood and the universality of Deen-e-Islam.

It also aims to hold symposiums, seminars, debates, workshops & exhibitions in order to popularize the message of Prophet Mohammad PBUH and promote awareness of Islamic culture and history. Much of the research and publication of essays and research paper is done here, is on Islamic ethical values, morality and fundamental roles of a civilized human.

🔷️ BOOK : "TAREEKH E SIALKOT"

The most recommended and popular book written & published about the history of Sialkot is "Tareekh e Sialkot" (تاریخ سیالکوٹ). It was written and published in the year 1958 by the late notable historian Rasheed Niaz. Due to his efforts, his book covers historical descriptions of landmarks, temples, masjids, libraries and much more. Famous and respected Islamic scholars, saints, poets, writers and sportsmen belonging to Sialkot, have also been mentioned in this book. Other cultural heritage of Sialkot is also penned in this book in detail by the author

Anyone can read this book from Seerat Study Centre library at any time. It can also be bought from Niaz Academy, Sialkot at Mujahid Road at a favourable price. Many columnists and editors have quoted from this book, while describing anything related to his Sialkot "Culture and History of Sialkot" platform plans to translate this unique book into english language, as its first English edition soon.

🔷 KUTCHEHRY CHOWK OF SIALKOT

The area of any Pakistani district which accommodates the civil and session courts, district administration offices, police station, jails and other legal offices is called "Kutchehry"/ کچہری . In Sialkot city, the main Kutchehry Chowk has been renovated under the administration of the current District Commissioner Dr. Nasir Mehmood. A new clock tower has been erected in July 2020 with the collaboration of the project "Clean Green Sialkot". This clock tower was inaugurated and sponsored by Advocate Mr. Muhammad Khalid Waseem. There is a crescent mounted at the top along with a LED dial clock that also illuminates at the night.

To the south is the D.C Office, to the west is the Jail road and the the northeast is the road that connects to Paris Road. To the North of the Kutchehry Chowk, is a well decorated wall of the Traffic Police Station, beautifully depicting the heritage of Sialkot and Pakistan. This artistic wall is made for display by NISA College in collaboration with Waseem Electronics. This Chowk is now renamed as Prof. Asghar Sodai Chowk.

This is an old residential building of from the British India era, which is situated near the Shell petrol pump at the Circular Road, Sialkot. Sialkot city has numerous such pre-partition buildings of beautiful architecture, that are an important part heritage of Sialkot and Pakistan.

🔷 CHARLES HOUSE, SIALKOT CANTT

This marvellous Hindu architecture is known as Charles House and is located at Rangsaaz Mohalla, ward # 4, Sialkot Cantt (House # 138, 139). It was designed and built in 1936 by a Hindu man and was used for residential purpose. At the time of partition of British India, he left this house and migrated to India. This building was later alloted to a Christian man named Mr. Garden Charles Gill in 1960s at a cost of Rs 30000. Currently it is well maintained and preserved by him and his family.

At right of the main door of this three storey house, has an engraved stone, which quotes a verse from 'The Bible' . Mr. Charles Gill is a known person in his locality. He owns a tailoring shop, just next to the Charles House. He well narrates the stories from the past and shares historical facts with an interest. He can be met at 'Charles Sons Tailors', where he supervises his tailoring staff.

A Visual Tour | SIALKOT CATHEDRAL (HOLY TRINITY CHURCH), located in Sialkot Cantonment | Part-01 The grand structure of the Sialkot Cathedral was built in the Gothic style of architecture belongs to mid-12th Century. It is also known as “Holy Trinity Cathedral”. In the mid nineteenth century, British rulers developed there Architecture after they established their government in the area. Other important buildings of this time period includes Clock tower in Saddar, and Murray College situated around the area. The Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, also known as Sialkot Cathedral, is an Anglican cathedral located in Sialkot Pakistan. Its first stone was laid on March 1, 1852. It is located in the Sialkot Cantonment on The Mall (Quaid-i-Azam Road). The church was consecrated by the Rt. Rev Daniel Wilson, Bishop of Calcutta, on January 30, 1857, Sialkot at the time being in the Diocese of Calcutta. It now belongs to the Church of Pakistan. The church of Sialkot is reminiscent of the mid-12th century Gothic Architecture with Tall tower, large windows and high pointed arched vaults. Which resembles other cathedrals of Pakistan constructed around mid of 19th century. Like old Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Multan; St.Johns Cathedral Peshawar, Pakistan; Christ Church, Rawalpindi Pakistan; etc.
