This practical is performed to verify the truth table and operation of a Half Adder circuit. Students construct the half adder using logic gates (AND, OR, XOR) or ICs and apply different combinations of binary inputs. The corresponding Sum and Carry outputs are observed and compared with the theoretical truth table, ensuring correct logical operation of the half adder.
This practical aims to study the connections and working principle of a three-phase synchronous motor. Students learn how the stator is connected to a three-phase AC supply to produce a rotating magnetic field, while DC excitation is applied to the rotor to create a constant magnetic field. The interaction of these fields causes the rotor to lock with the stator field and rotate at synchronous speed. The practical helps in understanding motor starting, excitation control, and key characteristics such as constant speed operation.
