The district was created on 1 July 1976 out of the three tehsils of Multan District (Vehari Burewala and Mailsi). Vehari is a small but very beautiful town about a 100 Km away from the historical city of Multan and is the headquarter of Vehari District in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
