Serbia and Frontex: training border guards to the same standards.

On 1 June in Belgrade, Frontex and Serbia signed a Partnership Academy Agreement.

It brings Serbia's border police training into Frontex's network of partner academies.

That means shared courses, joint projects and common European training standards.

Serbia and Frontex officers already work side by side at the country's borders. This is the next step in a close partnership.

On 30 May we celebrate Croatia’s Statehood Day with Jelena, a Frontex Deputy Group Leader deployed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

Jelena brings her Croatian spirit of resilience to her job at Frontex, where she manages returns and leads her colleagues 👮‍♀️👮‍♀️

Jelena tells us that Statehood Day evokes in Croatians a strong sense of pride in their homeland, language, culture, and identity 🇭🇷

From seabed to space 🌊🚀

At the MED9 summit in Rovinj, Croatia, Frontex Deputy Executive Aija Kalnaja called for perseverance to counter challenges related to migration and drug trafficking. To build a safer EU, Team Europe must focus on three pillars:

🤝 Strong partnerships: building lasting trust abroad.
🛰️ Situational awareness: from seabed to space and cyberspace.
🛡️ AI foresight: predicting and preventing threats before they emerge.

Together, 9 Mediterranean EU nations are reinforcing regional security and protecting our borders 🇪🇺

This week we welcomed Janusz Lewandowski , Lena Düpont, Μιχάλης Χατζηπαντέλα - Michael Hadjipantela, Jean-Marc Germain, Matjaž Nemec, and Andrzej Halicki, Members of the European Parliament.

The Parliament scrutinizes Frontex's activities. As one of the two bodies responsible for the EU's legislative function, it also negotiates and adopts the legislative mandates of EU agencies.
