Hi! I am Martijn.
I'm originally from the Netherlands and I’ve been living in Poland for the past 8 years. After many years working with Benelux clients, joining the Belgian Embassy feels like a natural step in my international journey - I think it is safe to say that all those years of watching Belgian TV as a kid finally paid off. 📺
With a background in International Communications, I’ve spent the past years working across customer service, communications, and coordination in international, multilingual environments. I’m really looking forward to stepping into the consular world, seeing how things work in practice, and learning new things along the way.
And yes… I will remain completely neutral in all future 🇧🇪 fries vs. 🇳🇱 patat debates!

Belgian director Pieter-Jan de Pue's mesmerizing new documentary Mariinka, following young Ukrainians whose lives have been shaped by over a decade of conflict in Donbas, won 🏆 the City Of Poznań Freedom Award and Mayor of Gdynia award at this year's Millennium Docs Against Gravity.

Ambassadors and diplomats from 🇧🇪 🇳🇴 🇪🇪 🇫🇮 🇩🇰 🇩🇪 🇳🇿 🇱🇹 🇱🇻 🇨🇦 🇸🇪 🇬🇧 🇳🇱 participated in the training organized by Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej .

The training included both a theoretical and practical part – from discussing the principles of preparing for crisis situations, to issues such as an evacuation backpack and the basics of first aid.

Preparing for crisis situations is primarily about knowledge, planning and the ability to act in practice. Thank you 18. The Warsaw Territorial Defence Brigade for organizing the training!

Szkolenie obejmowało zarówno część teoretyczną, jak i praktyczną – od omówienia zasad przygotowania na sytuacje kryzysowe, po zagadnienia takie jak plecak ewakuacyjny oraz podstawy pierwszej pomocy.

Przygotowanie na sytuacje kryzysowe to przede wszystkim wiedza, planowanie i zdolność działania w praktyce. Dziękujemy 18. Stołecznej Brygadzie Obrony Terytorialnej za organizację szkolenia!

Today, we welcomed at the Embassy, a group of students from the Executive Master Immobilier at the UCLouvain (the Brussels Saint-Louis campus) who are currently visiting Poland. These young professionals come from various backgrounds but connect their future with urban development and real estate.

Our colleagues from Hub.Brussels office in Warsaw invited Ms. Monika Konrad, Deputy Director of the Department of Architecture & Spatial Planning at the City of Warsaw office. She explained the history of urban development of Warsaw, the involvement of social dialogue in planning new investments, and the future of green cities.

We are glad to see the interest of Belgian young professionals in exploring Poland, especially as many Belgian companies are already active here in the real estate sphere.

Dziś powitaliśmy w Ambasadzie grupę studentów z Executive Master Immobilier na UCLouvain (kampus Saint-Louis w Brukseli), którzy obecnie odwiedzają Polskę. Ci młodzi profesjonaliści pochodzą z różnych środowisk, ale swoją przyszłość łączą z tematyką rozwoju miast i nieruchomości.

Nasi koledzy z biura Hub.Brussels w Warszawie zaprosili panią Monikę Konrad, zastępcę dyrektora Wydziału Architektury i Planowania Przestrzennego w biurze Miasta Warszawa. Wyjaśniła historię rozwoju urbanistycznego Warszawy, zaangażowanie dialogu społecznego w planowanie nowych inwestycji oraz przyszłość zielonych miast.

Cieszymy się, że młodzi belgijscy profesjonaliści interesują się Polską, szczególnie iż wiele belgijskich firm już działa na polskim rynku nieruchomości.

What does it take to become a diplomat? What are some of the key foreign policy files followed by the Belgian Embassy? These were a few of the many questions answered today by our First Secretary, Thomas Julien,during a study visit of a group of high school and university students from the Action Diplomacy (Akcja Dyplomacja) project organized by the Foreign Affairs Student Society from the Warsaw School of Economics.

It’s wonderful to see such young students who are interested in working in diplomacy. Perhaps, they will become future Polish diplomats. We wish them all the best in their studies and future career paths!
