In one week, we will be joining the Blue Belt Programme to celebrate its 10-year anniversary!
90% of the UK’s unique biodiversity is found within the UK Overseas Territories. Our specific corner of the ocean is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, designated shark and ray sanctuaries, nesting colonies for seabirds, pristine coral reefs and seamounts and multiple endemic land and sea species. The Pitcairn Islands MPA has also been a proud receiver of the 2023 Blue Parks Platinum Award.
Since 2016, we've been supported by the Programme, to protect, restore and manage our marine environments. We're proud to be a part of this partnership and look forward to continuing it.

Welcome to Pitcairn, Dr Silvia Paz and her partner David.
Arriving on April 26th, Dr Paz brings more than 25 years of medical experience, including extensive work in remote and rural communities.
Passionate about isolated places and community focused healthcare, she says she has already been inspired by the welcoming spirit and resourcefulness of the Pitcairn community.

2 days of hard work and shared purpose.
Miro trees planted around 50 years ago and Tamanu trees planted around 60 years ago have now reached maturity, and majority of the community came together to harvest them.
It was challenging, hands on work, long hours, heavy lifting and plenty of sweats but teamwork and dedication carried it through.
Now, these woods will be crafted into beautiful wood carvings by the islands skilled woodcarvers.

A great visit from the final cruise ship of the season, Seabourn Pursuit!
Passengers enjoyed walking tours to St Paul's Pool, Adamstown and the Highest Point as well as quad bike tours around the island and the local market.
A wonderful day for both the locals and passengers and a perfect way to wrap up the cruise ship season.

Work on the community center has been successful, with a lot of progress made. The outside, inside ceilings and doors have been installed, along with battens and flooring. Progress has also been made on the kitchen, and work on the toilets has begun. Several other tasks have also been undertaken and are nearing completion.
It has been a strong team effort, which has helped the work come together more quickly.
