Mosaic Art Competition! As part of their mosaic art unit, students created original artworks using only squares and triangles while exploring shape, space, color, and craftsmanship. The finished mosaics were displayed for our school community, and students, staff, and families voted for the pieces that best demonstrated creativity, image clarity, and overall craftsmanship. After carefully reviewing the community votes, we are excited to announce the winners:

🥇 1st Place
Kaylen Santiago – “Fishpond”
A vibrant and beautifully crafted mosaic featuring colorful fish, strong use of spacing, and excellent color harmony.

🥈 2nd Place
Thais Collazo – “Hummingbird”
An intricate and creative design that uses carefully arranged shapes to create a vivid and recognizable image.

🥉 3rd Place
Arabella Gonzalez – “The Fox”
A visually striking mosaic with strong structure, bold color transitions, and effective use of triangular shapes.

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their creativity, effort, and dedication throughout this unit. Thank you to everyone in our school community who participated in the voting process and supported our visual arts program!

Antilles High School’s AP Seminar students recently participated in an engaging and interactive Zoom presentation with Nathalie Alomar from Yale University’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, coordinated by Ms. Maria Santiago.

Nathalie, a PhD Candidate, shared insights into her fascinating research on how animals survive in challenging environments. Using salamanders as her study system, she explores how physiology influences where species live and how they adapt over time.

She did an outstanding job connecting with our students and encouraging them to think seriously about the importance of research and the role it can play in both academic and future career paths. As many students continue exploring their interests, Nathalie emphasized that research skills are valuable across all fields of study — not just in the sciences.

This experience also highlighted the importance of developing real-life skills that will support students in their future endeavors, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning.

Thank you, Nathalie Alomar, for inspiring our students and broadening their perspectives on research, discovery, and future opportunities!

The JROTC Program from Antilles High School conducted a community service activity called “Feed the Homeless,” which was successfully executed on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Our Cadets collected food donations and provided breakfast to homeless people at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Old San Juan. Our young cadets have a deep commitment to help others in our society. It is imperative to learn how to engage in community service to actively demonstrate social responsibility. The importance of showing our deep commitment to helping others hugely embodies our Army value of selfless service.
