The 402nd Civil Affairs Battalion launched 2026 with remarkable energy and determination. From January 8th to 11th, at Camp Santiago in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Soldiers pushed through a series of demanding training lanes—including weapons qualification—with a level of commitment that set a powerful tone for the year ahead.

What made this effort truly stand out was the teamwork behind the scenes. Countless Soldiers stepped forward to ensure every aspect of the training operated with precision, allowing others to remain focused on mastering their weapons and meeting the standard. Their dedication—often unseen and unrecorded—was essential to the success of the mission.

Fort Buchanan stands as the U.S. Armed Forces’ driving force in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. From this strategic base, military personnel are trained and prepared to mobilize swiftly and carry out essential missions wherever and whenever the nation calls.
