783rd Maintenance Company Receives Visit From 3678th CSSB Command Team During Annual Training
Soldiers assigned to the Puerto Rico Army National Guard’s 783rd Maintenance Company, 191st Regional Support Group, received a visit from the 3678th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion command team during annual training at Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center, Iowa, May 16, 2026. Lt. Col. Cesar Salicrup and Command Sgt. Maj. Leonel Bosque met with Soldiers and leaders to observe ongoing maintenance and recovery operations while recognizing outstanding performance, professionalism and commitment to readiness.
The visit reinforced the importance of leader engagement and highlighted the 783rd Maintenance Company’s dedication to sustaining mission-ready equipment and operational excellence throughout annual training.

783rd Maintenance Company Conducts Annual Training in Iowa
Citizen-Soldiers assigned to the Puerto Rico Army National Guard’s 783rd Maintenance Company, 191st Regional Support Group, conducts annual training at Camp Dodge Joint Maneuver Training Center in Iowa, May 18, 2026. The training focuses on maintenance and recovery operations, providing Soldiers the opportunity to strengthen technical proficiency, equipment readiness and mission-essential sustainment capabilities in a dynamic field environment.
Throughout the training, Soldiers are conducting recovery missions, preventive maintenance checks and services, troubleshooting operations and hands-on tactical sustainment tasks designed to enhance operational effectiveness and unit readiness. The annual training also reinforces teamwork, adaptability and the ability to support combat and sustainment operations across a wide range of missions.

The Puerto Rico National Guard Land Component Commander, Brigadier General Carlos Torres-Fébus, conducted a town hall focused on synchronized readiness leadership development at Fort Allen, May 12, 2026. During the visit, Command Sgt. Maj. Reinaldo Soto addressed noncommissioned officers on their leadership roles and responsibilities across the force, while Master Sgt. Gualberto Martinez briefed leaders on the Active Guard Reserve program and its role in supporting full-time operational readiness.
The Active Guard Reserve program remains essential to sustaining day-to-day operations, personnel readiness and mission ex*****on by providing full-time support to National Guard units for both state and federal missions.

Ortiz Assumes Key Leadership Role as First Sergeant
Master Sgt. Ricky P. Ortiz was laterally appointed as first sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 191st Regional Support Group, during a ceremony at Fort Allen, Puerto Rico, April 29, 2026. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition, placing Ortiz in a key role responsible for the readiness, discipline and welfare of Soldiers, while reinforcing the unit’s mission effectiveness and command presence. Notably, Ortiz becomes the first culinary specialist within the Puerto Rico Army National Guard to be laterally appointed to first sergeant without changing his military occupational specialty, underscoring both his leadership capability and the evolving scope of senior noncommissioned officer roles.

840th Classification Inspection Company Honors Promotions, Retirements and Milestones.
The 840th Classification Inspection Company (CICO) recognized Soldiers during a ceremony celebrating promotions, retirements and a birthday, highlighting professionalism, leadership and dedication across the unit at Gurabo Readiness center, April 12, 2026.
The ceremony honored the retirements of Master Sgt. Antonio Mawad and Sgt. 1st Class Miguel Rivera, recognizing their years of faithful service, leadership and lasting contributions to the organization.
During the promotion portion of the event, 1st Lt. Eliut Crespo, unit commander, was promoted to Captain. Additionally, 2nd Lt. Derek Montes was promoted to 1st Lt., while Staff Sgt. Frank Gonzalez and Staff Sgt. Rubi Cruz were promoted to Sgt. 1st Class, reflecting their continued commitment to excellence and leadership.
