يقف منقذو شاطئ غزة كل يوم بأعداد قليلة، وبإمكانات تكاد تكون معدومة، يراقبون الأمواج بقلوبٍ يقظة وأعينٍ لا تغفل، حمايةً لأرواح الناس وإنقاذاً لمن يطلب النجدة.

إنقاذ الأرواح لا يحتمل التأجيل؛ لذا نجدد دعوتنا العاجلة للجهات المعنية والمؤسسات الإنسانية إلى توفير منقذين إضافيين، وأبراج ومعدات الإنقاذ اللازمة، حتى لا يتحول نقص الإمكانات إلى فاجعة كان بالإمكان تجنبها.

Eyes on the Sea

Every day, Gaza's beach lifeguards stand watch with limited numbers and almost no equipment, keeping a vigilant eye on the waves and risking their own safety to protect lives and rescue those in distress.

Saving lives cannot wait. We therefore renew our urgent appeal to the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide additional lifeguards, rescue towers, and essential lifesaving equipment without delay, so that a shortage of resources does not turn into a tragedy that could have been prevented.

تعرب سلطة المياه وجودة البيئة واتحاد بلديات قطاع غزة عن بالغ قلقهما إزاء التدهور الخطير والمتسارع في خدمات المياه والصرف الصحي في قطاع غزة نتيجة استمرار القيود المفروضة على إدخال الوقود والزيوت وقطع الغيار والمضخات ومعدات الصيانة والمواد اللازمة لتشغيل وإصلاح مرافق المياه والصرف الصحي.

رئيس بلدية غزة يشارك في ندوة دولية في جنيف حول "اقتصاد الإبادة الجماعية"

شارك رئيس بلدية غزة د. يحيى السراج، في الندوة الدولية "اقتصاد الإبادة الجماعية: تقاطعات فلسطينية وسودانية"، التي عُقدت في مدينة جنيف السويسرية بتاريخ يونيو 2026، بمشاركة أكاديميين وباحثين وناشطين دوليين، حيث شارك إلى جانب رئيس البلدية م. محمد الشقرة من مكتب رئيس البلدية.

وخلال مداخلته عبر الاتصال المرئي من غزة، استعرض رئيس بلدية غزة الأوضاع الإنسانية والاقتصادية الصعبة التي تعيشها المدينة في ظل الحرب والحصار، مؤكداً تمسك المواطنين في غزة بالأمل والإرادة رغم حجم الدمار والتحديات.

كما شدد على أهمية أن تكون عملية إعادة إعمار غزة بقيادة فلسطينية وبمشاركة مجتمعية واسعة، بما يحافظ على هوية المدينة ويلبي احتياجات سكانها، مستعرضاً رؤية البلدية وخطة "فينيكس" لإعادة الإعمار.

وفي ختام الندوة، دعا د. السراج المجتمع الدولي إلى دعم حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني، ورفع القيود المفروضة على غزة، وتمكين أهلها من إعادة بناء مدينتهم والعيش بحرية وكرامة.

The Municipality of Gaza Participates in Geneva Panel on the “Economy of Genocide”
The Mayor of Gaza Dr. Yahya Sarraj, participated in the international panel discussion “The Economy of Genocide: Crossing Palestinian and Sudanese Perspectives,” held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 10 June 2026, with the participation of researchers, academics, and international activists, accompanied by Eng. Mohammad Al-Shaqra from the Mayor’s Office.

Speaking remotely from Gaza, Mayor Sarraj highlighted the severe humanitarian and economic conditions facing the city as a result of the ongoing war and blockade, while emphasizing the resilience and determination of Gaza’s residents despite the unprecedented destruction.

He also stressed that Gaza’s reconstruction must be led by Palestinians and shaped by the needs and aspirations of its people, presenting the Municipality’s vision and the Phoenix Reconstruction Plan.

In his closing remarks, the Mayor of Gaza called on the international community to support the rights of the Palestinian people, lift restrictions on Gaza, and enable its residents to rebuild their city and live in freedom and dignity.

بأدوات بسيطة ورغم قلة الإمكانات تواصل طواقم بلدية غزة أعمال تعزيل مناهل الصرف الصحي في مناطق مختلفة من المدينة، ضمن جهودها المتواصلة للحد من طفح شبكات الصرف الصحي والتخفيف من المخاطر الصحية والبيئية التي تهدد المدينة.

وتعرضت شبكات ومرافق الصرف الصحي لأضرار جسيمة خلال حرب الإبادة، ما أدى إلى تدفق المياه العادمة إلى الشوارع وبرك تجميع مياه الأمطار، وفاقم من حجم الأزمة البيئية والإنسانية في المدينة.

وتجدد بلدية غزة مناشدتها للمنظمات الدولية والجهات الإنسانية سرعة التدخل لتوفير الاحتياجات الأساسية ومواد البناء والمواسير وقطع الغيار اللازمة لإعادة تأهيل شبكات الصرف الصحي والمرافق الخدمية، بما يضمن استمرارية الخدمات الأساسية وحماية الصحة العامة.

Using simple tools and despite severe resource constraints, Gaza Municipality crews continue cleaning and clearing sewage manholes across various areas of the city as part of their ongoing efforts to reduce sewage overflows and mitigate the health and environmental risks threatening residents.

The sewage network and its facilities sustained extensive damage during the war, leading to the discharge of wastewater into streets and stormwater retention ponds, further exacerbating the city's environmental and humanitarian crisis.

Gaza Municipality renews its appeal to international organizations and humanitarian agencies to urgently intervene by providing essential supplies, construction materials, pipes, and spare parts needed to rehabilitate the sewage network and other vital service facilities, ensuring the continuity of basic services and the protection of public health.

رغم شح الإمكانات وتحديات العمل، تواصل طواقم بلدية غزة جهودها لإصلاح خط الصرف الصحي الناقل من محطة المعالجة في منطقة الشيخ عجلين جنوب المدينة، والذي تعرض لأضرار جسيمة بفعل العدوان الإسرائيلي، بهدف وقف تدفق المياه العادمة إلى بركة تجميع مياه الأمطار في حي الشيخ رضوان، والتخفيف من حدة الكارثة الصحية والبيئية التي تهدد المواطنين في محيطها.

Despite severe resource shortages and operational challenges, Gaza Municipality crews continue their efforts to repair the sewage transmission line from the wastewater treatment plant in the Sheikh Ajleen area, south of Gaza City, which sustained extensive damage as a result of the Israeli aggression. The repair works aim to halt the flow of wastewater into the stormwater retention pond in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood and mitigate the worsening health and environmental crisis threatening residents living in its vicinity.

شارك رئيس بلدية غزة د. يحيى السراج، عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، في المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عُقد في مدينة جنيف السويسرية لمناقشة مشروع التوأمة المقترح بين مدينتي غزة وجنيف، وذلك بحضور ممثلي الأحزاب السياسية الداعمة للمبادرة وعدد من الصحفيين والإعلاميين.

فيما حضر إلى جانب رئيس البلدية م. محمد الشقرة من مكتب رئيس البلدية، حيث استعرض رئيس بلدية غزة خلال كلمته أهمية تعزيز التعاون والتضامن بين المدن، والدور الذي يمكن أن تؤديه الشراكات البلدية الدولية في دعم مدينة غزة وتعزيز صمودها في ظل التحديات الراهنة.

وشهد المؤتمر الإعلان عن إحالة مقترح التوأمة إلى لجنة التماسك الاجتماعي في مجلس مدينة جنيف بعد الموافقة على التعامل معه كملف عاجل، في خطوة تُعد تقدماً مهماً نحو تعزيز العلاقات والتعاون بين المدينتين.

وأكد رئيس البلدية أن مبادرات التضامن والتعاون بين البلديات تمثل جسوراً للتواصل الإنساني وتفتح آفاقاً جديدة للتعاون في المجالات التنموية والثقافية والمؤسسية، معرباً عن تقديره للدعم والتضامن الذي تبديه مدينة جنيف ومؤسساتها تجاه مدينة غزة وسكانها.

Mayor of Gaza Participates in Geneva Press Conference Supporting Proposed Twinning Partnership👇

Dr. Yahya Al-Sarraj, Mayor of Gaza, participated via video conference in a press conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the proposed twinning partnership between the cities of Gaza and Geneva. The event was attended by representatives of the political parties supporting the initiative, along with a number of journalists and media professionals.
The Mayor of Gaza was accompanied by Eng. Mohammed Al-Shaqra from the Mayor’s Office. During his remarks, Mayor Al-Sarraj highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation and solidarity between municipalities and emphasized the positive impact that international municipal partnerships can have in supporting Gaza and enhancing its resilience under current challenges.
During the conference, it was announced that the twinning motion had been referred to the Social Cohesion Commission of the Geneva City Council after being accepted as an urgent matter, marking a significant step forward in the process.
Mayor Al-Sarraj stressed that municipal solidarity initiatives serve as important bridges for human connection and create opportunities for cooperation in developmental, cultural, and institutional fields. He also expressed his appreciation for the solidarity and support shown by the City of Geneva and its institutions toward Gaza and its people.

عاد عطشاناً
مع ساعات الصباح الأولى، توجّه أبو أحمد إلى كراج بلدية غزة حاملاً قالوناً فارغاً، أملاً في تعبئته بمياه الشرب من محطة التحلية، ليعود به إلى زوجته وأطفاله الذين أنهكهم العطش.

لكنّ رحلته انتهت بخيبة أمل؛ إذ وجد المحطة متوقفةً عن العمل بسبب انعدام الزيوت الصناعية اللازمة لتشغيل مولّد الكهرباء الذي يُغذّيها. عاد أبو أحمد إلى خيمته حزيناً، يحمل قالونه الفارغ كما جاء.

وبصوت أجهده التعب، قال: "لماذا يُحرَم أطفالي من أبسط حقوقهم؟ لماذا لا تُدخَل الزيوت لتعمل المحطة ونحصل على مياه نشربها؟"

He Returned Thirsty
In the early hours of the morning, Abu Ahmad made his way to the Gaza Municipality garage, carrying an empty water container and hoping to fill it with drinking water from the desalination plant water he desperately needed to bring back to his wife and children, who had been worn down by thirst.

His journey, however, ended in bitter disappointment. Upon arrival, he found the plant out of service due to a shortage of industrial lubricants needed to run the electricity generator that powers it. Abu Ahmad returned to his tent, a heaviness in his chest, carrying the same empty container he had set out with.

In a voice weighed down by exhaustion and grief, he asked:
"Why are my children being deprived of their most basic right? Why are the necessary lubricants not being allowed in, so the plant can operate and we can have water to drink?"
