On 17 February 2026, Mr David Muscat presented Letters of Credence as the Head of the Representative Office of the Republic of Malta to the State of Palestine, to H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine. The ceremony was held at the Al Muqata'a Presidential Palace in Ramallah. Following the presentation an exchange was held with His Excellency the President of the State of Palestine where the President expressed appreciation for Malta’s long standing support of Palestine and Malta’s recognition of the State of Palestine and welcomed the ongoing cooperation between Malta and Palestine.

On 11 February 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat met with Reem Hajajreh and Lana Alsharif, respectively Director and Executive Director of Women of the Sun, an independent Palestinian Women’s Association. The work and initiatives of Women of the Sun were discussed as well as the potential to support future initiatives.

On 10 February 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat participated with other representatives in meeting with Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Hussein al-Sheikh. In the meeting the Vice President briefed the participants on the negative effects of the decisions by Israel security cabinet on land in the West Bank.

On 6 February 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat participated in the meeting of Heads of Churches hosted by the Greek Patriarch of Jerusalem Teophilos III. The Heads of Churches outlined the challenges faced by the Christian community living or visiting the Holy City of Jerusalem.

On 3 February 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat participated in a meeting with Sheikh Azzam Khatib, Director General of the Jerusalem Waqf & Al Aqsa Mosque Affairs and Chairman of the Islamic Waqf Council & Holy Sites Affairs in Jerusalem. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the challenges being faced in the administration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On 3 February 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat presented certificates to Professor Ibrahim Abu Aemar and students from Al Quds University. The certificates were for participation in a study visit held in Malta in 2025 and organised by the Department of Conservation and Built Heritage, at the Faculty for the Built Environment, University of Malta.

On 27 January 2026 Head of Representative Office David Muscat visited Jericho and held a meeting with HE Dr Hussein Hamayel, Governor of Jericho, to understand current situation in Jericho and exchange ideas on future possible cooperation. The visit included a guide to Jericho historical sites including Hisham Palace and Tell-es Sultan.
