On 2nd June, the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Portugal 🇵🇹, within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union 🇨🇾, organized a visit for the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of the EU Member States accredited in Lisbon to the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). 🇪🇺
During the visit, the guests had the opportunity to explore the exhibition “The Maritime Tradition of Cyprus”, highlighting Cyprus’ deep historical and cultural connection with the sea and its enduring maritime heritage.
The Embassy of Cyprus had the honour of opening the event “EMSA and EU Member States: partnering for a resilient and competitive maritime future”, with remarks delivered by H.E. Ambassador Elpidoforos Economou, alongside EMSA´s Executive Director, Mrs. Maja Markovčić Kostelac, insightful presentation.
Delegates also visited the European Maritime Awareness Centre, where they had the opportunity to witness EMSA’s operational activities and the Agency’s ongoing support to EU Member State authorities in practice.
The Embassy warmly thanks EMSA for its hospitality and for hosting this meaningful initiative that further strengthened the spirit of cooperation and dialogue among the European Union Member States.
