🌍 Building Bridges for Safer and Stronger Labour Migration

Lisbon became a hub for stronger Indonesia–Europe labour partnerships on 7 October 2026, as the Government of Indonesia hosted IEBF 2026: Labour Migration Cooperation at EPIC SANA Marquês Hotel.

The forum brought together H.E. Salvador Malheiro, Secretary of State for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, H.E. Pedro Portugal Gaspar, President of AIMA, alongside Indonesian government officials, business associations, and 18 Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI) representing diverse employment sectors.

💼 More than a business forum, IEBF 2026 was about turning connections into opportunities. From showcasing Indonesia’s skilled workforce to connecting businesses and expanding access to European labour markets, the forum paved the way for stronger and more sustainable partnerships.

🇮🇩🤝🇵🇹 A NEW MILESTONE IN INDONESIA–PORTUGAL MARITIME COOPERATION! ⚓🌊

Stronger Partnerships. Greater Opportunities. A Shared Maritime Future!

Lisbon, 6 October 2026 — Indonesia and Portugal marked a significant milestone with the signing of a Cooperation Protocol on the Recognition and Equivalence of Professional Qualifications of Indonesian Fishermen serving aboard Portuguese fishing vessels, held at the GPP, Praça do Comércio, Lisbon.

In her remarks, H.E. Susi Marleny Bachsin, Ambassador of Indonesia to Portugal, warmly welcomed this landmark achievement, highlighting its strategic importance in strengthening maritime cooperation, expanding professional opportunities, and advancing the protection and welfare of Indonesian fishermen in Portugal.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Ana Isabel Xavier, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; H.E. Rui Armindo Freitas, Deputy Secretary of State for the Presidency and Immigration; and H.E. Salvador Malheiro, Secretary of State for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs. Also present were representatives of Indonesian ministries, Portuguese fisheries associations and companies, and Indonesian fishermen working in Portugal.

Signed on the Portuguese side by Vice Admiral António Coelho Cândido, Director-General of DGRM, the Protocol represents a concrete step towards smoother qualification recognition, greater professional mobility, and mutually beneficial opportunities for both countries.

✨ Beyond recognition, this milestone is about empowering people, strengthening partnerships, and building a safer, more inclusive, and sustainable maritime future.

FROM INDONESIA, MAKING PORTO GO AMBYAR! 🇮🇩🇵🇹

Porto went AMBYAR BARENG! at Emerald Ambyar Fest Portugal on 3 October 2026, as Ndarboy, Iva Jeniva, Melinda Slow, Cellin, and Kangga Supernova brought the vibrant sounds, heartfelt emotions, and infectious energy of Indonesian Ambyar music to Portugal.

Emerald Ambyar Fest was more than a musical celebration, it demonstrated how Indonesia’s musik ambyar can gain international recognition and drive creative economic growth by expanding opportunities for Indonesian artists to perform abroad, reach wider audiences, and collaborate with creatives from different cultures.

The event also brought together members of the Indonesian community from Porto and surrounding areas, creating a lively atmosphere of togetherness, cultural pride, and shared celebration. Their enthusiastic participation made Emerald Ambyar Fest not only a showcase of Indonesian music but also a meaningful gathering that strengthened community bonds and introduced Indonesia’s vibrant musical culture to a wider international audience.
