Last week, the NATO Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Centre - JALLC family gathered in Monsanto to bid farewell to Lieutenant Colonel Jason Thompson (United States Air Force) as he finishes his assignment with us in Lisbon.

To mark his exceptional service, our Commander, Brigadier General Cristinel Colibaba, presented LTC Thompson with a JALLC Commander’s Commendation! 🏆

During his time with the JALLC Advisory and Training Team (JATT), Jason demonstrated incredible dedication, delivering top-class Lessons Learned courses and training officers across NATO and Allied nations. His commitment, energy, and expertise have made a real difference to our mission and to the teams he trained.

Thank you for your service, camaraderie, and dedication, Jason. We wish you and your family all the best in your next chapter! 🤝💙

Celebrating 24 years of keeping NATO learning and adapting — and welcoming new faces to our team! 🥳🎂🛡️✨

Last week, the entire JALLC family came together in Monsanto to celebrate our 24th Anniversary!

It was a fantastic day filled with great moments of camaraderie, recognition of outstanding merit, and celebration across our military and civilian team. We also took this special occasion to give a big, warm welcome to all the new military and civilian personnel who have joined us over the last few weeks! 🤝💙

Our Commander took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the work we deliver every single day, encouraging us to keep pushing boundaries, supporting one another, and overcoming challenges together.

Because together, we are stronger — and NATO counts on us! 🏆

Here’s to 24 years of history, teamwork, and analytical excellence, and to a bright future with our expanding team! 🎉

Strengthening analytical skills across the Alliance! ⚓🇬🇧🛡️✨

Last week, the JALLC Advisory and Training Team (JATT) was at the Allied Maritime Command (NATO Maritime Command ) in Northwood, UK!

Our team trained 15 Lessons Learned Officers and Points of Contact across MARCOM's divisions on the NATO Lessons Learned Capability, analysis techniques, and the NATO Lessons Learned Portal. 📊💻

We were also delighted to welcome six staff members from UK military headquarters (PJHQ, IWC, and MSHQ), who joined the training and shared fantastic real-world examples from the host nation! 🤝💙

A huge thank you to everyone at MARCOM for the warm hospitality and great engagement throughout the week. Together, we keep NATO learning, adapting, and ready! 🏆

This week in Stavanger, Norway, NATO command structures and Centres of Excellence (COEs) gathered to discuss how specialized expertise can adapt even faster to current security challenges.

The JALLC was proudly represented at this important conference by our Chief of Staff, Colonel Nuno Lopes! 🇵🇹🤝

Whether it’s disaster response, cyber defence, or capturing critical Lessons Learned, the network of 30 NATO-accredited COEs brings incredible innovation and practical solutions to the Alliance.

By working closely together, we turn real-world experience into knowledge that keeps NATO prepared, resilient, and ready for what’s next. 🏆💙

NATO’s Centres of Excellence keep adapting as the security environment changes.
The 30 NATO-accredited Centres of Excellence bring specialised expertise that can adapt quickly, test new approaches and turn experience into something the Alliance can use.

This week in Stavanger, NATO COE Directors met with NATO commands and organisations to look at how that expertise can be connected even more closely to operational demand.

From Arctic experimentation and counter-drone technologies to cyber defence, resilience and military medicine, the focus is practical: identify the problem, test solutions, learn quickly and turn results into something NATO can use.

A network that evolves with the challenges. And stays focused on readiness.
