Another great cleaning day at the kennel!
Thanks again to Marissa Mad-Renguul for organizing the volunteers today.
Carolyn Ngiraidis was the first to show up and last to leave! Thank you for all of your hard work.
Officers Darlwin Langit, Anthony Bell, Pablo Feliciano, and Christopher Jewett from the Civic Action Team Palau at Camp Katuu showed up and applied much needed elbow grease to the kennels and dogs. Thank you!

Thank you SO much, Marissa, for organizing volunteers to wash the dogs today! The dogs loved it and the kennel smells so much better. Thank you, Brenda, for coming out and helping with the baths and kennel cleaning. We'd also like to thank TSgt Darlwin Langit and A1C Anthony Bell from the Civic Action Team, Camp Katuu for showing up and washing most of the dogs.
The community is an extremely important part of every K9 program. Thank you all for your continued support ❀️

K9 Boomer did pretty well with his tail being wrapped....until he got bored and wanted to chew it off. {Cone of Shame has entered the chat}.

K9 Boomer has decided to show us just how happy he is by developing "Happy Tail". Yaaaaayno πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ
"Happy tail syndrome is a condition where dogs cause damage to the tip of their tails from striking surfaces. Many times, this condition occurs when they are wagging their tail, which is why it's coined happy tail syndrome. This condition is anything but happy for dogs and dog owners."
K9 Boomer gets so excited and wags his tail so hard in his kennel that his tail hits the walls. The tip of his tail starts bleeding while he wags it, which flings blood everywhere. His kennel then looks like a scene from the TV show Dexter. Fortunately, we caught it in the early stages and can hopefully save his tail. Unfortunately, once a dog develops Happy Tail, the tail heals with a thinner layer of skin making it easier to reopen. If the Happy Tail becomes too bad, the only option is tail amputation to prevent further damage and trauma.
Palau Pets Plus has bandaged K9 Boomer's tail in hopes of saving it. He will be staying there under their care and observation for 10 days to allow the tail to heal. πŸ€žπŸ½πŸ™πŸ½

Brigadier General Birch is the Commander of the 36th Wing, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. He recently stopped by to show his support and to watch a demonstration of Palau's K9s.
Thank you, Brig. Gen. Birch for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit. It really meant a lot to us.

Thank you, Koror State Animal Shelter/Clinic for the after hours emergency care! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΌπŸ₯πŸ€ŽπŸΎπŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί
For the last month, KSAS has been treating one of Palau's top K9s, Keiko, for pneumonia. Yesterday, K9 Keiko was struggling to breathe. We notified KSAS and the doctor and staff assembled like the Avengers and met us at the animal clinic where they took x-rays and ultrasounds. Thankfully, the pneumonia had cleared up, but the ultrasounds showed that K9 Keiko was suffering from severe bronchitis. She is now on medication that will get rid of the bronchitis and help her breathe normally 😊
Thank you again, Dr. Sayaka, Sherman, and Darrel.
