Over the past two weeks, Volunteers have been immersed in Pre-Service Training: learning the Palauan language, culture, history, and ocean safety as they prepare for life at site with their host families and communities. A special “mesulang” (thank you) to Ambassador Joel Ehrendreich for bringing together Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and community partners together to welcome our Volunteers shortly after their arrival in Palau.

🌺 Alii & Welcome to Palau! 🇵🇼
After 8+ years, Peace Corps is back in Palau!
We’re proud to welcome our newest group of Volunteers as we reopen Peace Corps Palau—marking a renewed chapter of partnership, learning, and community. In the weeks ahead, Volunteers will begin learning the Palauan language, exploring the local culture, and refining the skills that are essential to their service.
A heartfelt thank you to the Palau Visitors Authority and the Ministry of Education for the warm welcome and for supporting safe transport to Volunteer lodging.
Rooted in trust. Guided by community. Growing global understanding. 🌱

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month activities, staff here in Palau wore jeans on in solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual violence. Today is a powerful reminder that we must work together and take action to build a future free from gender-based violence.

A look back at the early days of Peace Corps in Palau. Since the 1960s, Volunteers and host communities have built lasting partnerships rooted in service, peace, and friendship. As we close Peace Corps Week, we honor the generations who helped shape this shared history.
