The long awaited team storyboard is complete!!! What a unique piece of art depicting many of the accomplishments and memories of our team's time in Palau. I wish the carver could make 13 copies, one for each of us, but it was about 5 months in the making. However, it will be on display in the Camp Katuu Lounge for years to come. Thanks to Justin at the Palau Jail for his amazing carving skills. And thanks to LTJG Rhett Johnson, current team OIC, for helping push it along long after our departure. Keep up the good work out there Seabees!

CAT 36-01 has returned home, but that doesn't mean they're done making headlines!

The new Bloody Nose Ridge Memorial on the Island of Peleliu was a resounding success. Kudos to MSgt Grant, his crew and everyone who supported the effort. They executed swiftly, skillfully, and most importantly, safely. The result is a thing of beauty and will live on for decades to come in memory of the brave men who gave their lives in service to their country during the Battle of Peleliu.

The team spent a long, sweaty week on the island of Peleliu carrying lumber to the top of Bloody Nose Ridge to rebuild one of the WWII Monuments we are responsible to maintain. The monument was a dilapidated old deck. It is now well on it's way to being a fitting tribute to the 2000 fallen warriors who paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. More pictures to follow when it's complete!

The US Marines came to Palau this week to conduct a training exercise. Their objective: Recon, infiltrate, clear and control Camp Katuu. But CAT 36-01 wasn't going down without a fight! The exercise went off without a hitch. It included the use of sim rounds, breaching charges on doors, and lots of strategery. Quality training and a good time was had by all. They even let Capt Lam pretend he was in the Army again.

Lots going on in camp today. Apprentices hard at work learning their trades. Senior Smith working on award packages. TSgt Thaxton replacing all the old lights with energy efficient LEDs. And the mechanics have almost all our equipment and vehicles working again! It has taken 4+ months but they never gave up! Hard to get parts in Palau.

Sonsorol Pics! Better late than never! The 9 day mission to the Southwest Islands was a huge success having brought the capacity for 13,500 gallons of rainwater collection and storage to the locals with the renovations the team did to the islands largest community water cistern. The team had a great time living the island life and being taken in as family by the locals. Each morning a couple of us were invited to go out on the boat to catch the days fish, which often included smacking seabirds out of the sky with long sticks (unreal!). We ate fruit bat, coconut crab and sea turtle and a few of us even speared our first fish. It was an amazingly unique experience that we will never forget.
