The Senate Committee on Tourism, Environment, and Maritime chaired by the Honorable Senator Umiich Sengebau wishes to notify the public that the Committee will be conducting a confirmation hearing on Senate Resolution No. 11-83.

The Senate Committee on Tourism, Environment & Maritime (TEM) chaired by the Honorable Senator Umiich Sengebau hereby notifies the general public of its upcoming scheduled meeting with the Honorable Minister Charles I. Obichang, Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries (MPII) and the Honorable Minister Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, Ministry of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism, and Development (MHRCTD). The meeting will cover the National Government’s regular flight services and marketing strategies to Japan, South Korea and the Republic of China-Taiwan.

Chairman Sengebau held a public hearing earlier this afternoon to obtain views on House Bill No. 11-46-4, HD1 “…to creating an Agricultural Product Registry and License…”, House Bill No. 11-48-5S, HD1 “To amend RPPL No. 11-12, to authorize and appropriate $500,000 from the NCD Fund to the Agricultural Fund and the Bureau of Agriculture..”, and House Joint Resolution No. 11-31-7S “Urging H.E. President Whipps, Jr. and the Ministry of Agricultire, Fisheries and the Environment to designate a day to be Annual Festival of Agriculture for farmers…”.

The hearing was attended by the Honorable President of the Senate Hokkons Baules, Honorable Floor Leader of the Senate Secilil Eldebechel and member of TEM Committee, the Honorable Senator Kazuki L. “Topps” Sungino.

Local farmers, members of the Livestock Associations and individual citizens attended the hearing where they provided their views to the Committee.

The Senate Committee on Tourism, Environment & Maritime (TEM) chaired by the Honorable Senator Umiich Sengebau held a confirmation hearing this afternoon, June 27, 2022, on Senate Resolution No. 11-79, the appointment of Mr. Jackson Doktok, to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Palau Visitors Authority.

The confirmation hearing was attended by Chairman Sengebau with support and attendance from Floor Leader of the Senate, Senator Secilil Eldebechel, Senator Rukebai Kikuo Inabo, and Senator Andrew Tabelual.

Members of the PVA staff were also in attendance to show their support to the nominee.

The public is invited to attend the hearing and provide their feedback.

“To amend Title 9 of the Palau National Code to protect Palauan property owners from theft of their crops by creating an Agricultural Product Registry and license, and for other related purposes.”
