Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce Qatar Mr. Emad Turkman MBE said:

Today, Qatar mourns the loss of one of its most respected national figures, H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah — a visionary leader whose impact on the nation will be felt for generations to come.

As one of the key architects behind Qatar’s energy transformation and industrial development, his contributions helped shape the remarkable progress and global standing the country enjoys today. Yet beyond his achievements in energy and infrastructure, it was his character, wisdom, and commitment to people that truly defined his legacy.

H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah was widely admired for his integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to public service. He inspired many through his belief in competence, transparency, and empowering future leaders. His leadership style fostered trust, encouraged excellence, and demonstrated that true progress is built not only through projects and industries, but through investing in people and values.

The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar extends its deepest condolences to the leadership and people of Qatar, and to the family and loved ones of H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah during this difficult time.

May his legacy continue to inspire future generations, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.

The British Chamber of Commerce Qatar is proud to share this announcement from His Majesty’s Ambassador to the state of Qatar, Neerav Patel, marking the conclusion of the landmark Free Trade Agreement between the UK and the GCC.

This historic agreement represents a major milestone for trade, investment and long-term economic collaboration across the region, supporting both Qatar National Vision 2030 and the UK’s growth strategy.

BCCQ Chairman Mr. Emad Turkman MBE commented:

“The announcement of a Free Trade Agreement between the UK and the GCC represents a significant and highly positive step forward for trade, investment and long-term economic collaboration across the region.

From Qatar’s perspective, this agreement has the potential to further strengthen already strong bilateral ties with the UK, whilst creating new opportunities for businesses operating across sectors including financial services, energy, construction, professional services, education, hospitality and technology.

As the British Chamber of Commerce Qatar continues to grow its membership and business network, we welcome initiatives that support increased market access, stronger commercial partnerships and greater confidence for businesses looking to trade and invest between the UK and the GCC.”

An exciting moment for UK-GCC relations and for the future of business between the UK and Qatar.
