🌷 Happy Mother’s Day from Sweden! 🇸🇪

Today, we celebrate all mothers and mother figures whose love, strength, and care shape our lives in countless ways.

Mothers are often our first teachers, our strongest supporters, and a source of guidance, encouragement, and resilience throughout life.

Across Sweden and around the world, women contribute every day in many different roles. They are mothers and caregivers, leaders and entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators, educators and healthcare professionals, artists, athletes, and community builders. Through their work, dedication, and compassion, they help shape families, communities, and the future.

To all mothers, and to those who play a mother’s role in the lives of others, thank you.

Books have a way of bringing worlds together 📚

I had the pleasure of visiting the Doha International Book Fair and stopping by a Swedish corner featuring a true Swedish icon, Pippi Longstocking, in Arabic. 🇸🇪📚

Seeing generations discover Astrid Lindgren’s stories in different languages is a reminder of how literature can connect cultures, spark imagination and travel beyond borders.

A wonderful celebration of reading, storytelling and cultural exchange here in Doha.

Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs

On 20–21 May 2026, Sweden, as the current chair, hosted the International Contact Group (ICG) for the Great Lakes in Stockholm, bringing together representatives from Belgium, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The meeting reaffirmed support for a coordinated international engagement to promote peace, stability, humanitarian access and regional cooperation in the Great Lakes region.

The discussions also highlighted the important mediation efforts facilitated by Qatar, alongside the United States, the African Union and regional partners, in support of dialogue and peaceful solutions in eastern DRC.

Sweden remains committed to multilateral cooperation, and long-term efforts for peace, security and regional stability.

Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs

On 21–22 May 2026, Sweden hosted a meeting of the NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Helsingborg, bringing together all thirty-two NATO allies for discussions on collective security, defence cooperation and long-term support to Ukraine. 🇸🇪

The meeting highlighted Sweden’s role within NATO and the importance of international cooperation in a changing security environment. It also underscored the value of dialogue and partnerships across regions, including with countries such as Qatar, which continues to contribute to regional diplomacy, mediation, and efforts to support stability and dialogue.
