Qatar is a growing country, and to accommodate this growth, a new, sustainable, and efficient way of getting both people and freight around the country was needed. Established by Emiri decree in 2011, Qatar Rail was given the mandate to design and develop the country’s rail network, and after the rail projects are completed, manage, operate, and maintain them. Qatar Rail’s answer to Qatar’s transportation challenges lies in three major projects:

• The Doha Metro: a mostly underground rail network which connects communities within Doha and its suburbs
• The Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT): a tram network providing comfortable and convenient travel within the new city of Lusail
• The Long Distance Passenger and Freight Rail: connecting cities in the north and west with Doha, and the country with the forthcoming GCC rail system

ترأس سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالله بن محمد آل ثاني، وزير المواصلات، اجتماع مجلس إدارة شركة الرّيل، الذي عُقد في المقر الرئيسي للشركة، وجرى خلاله استعراض أبرز منجزات الشركة خلال الفترة الماضية، ومناقشة الخطط والأهداف الاستراتيجية والمشاريع المستقبلية. كما وجّه سعادته بمواصلة تعزيز العمل على أولويات الشركة ودفع مشاريعها المستقبلية قدمًا، بما يواكب متطلبات المرحلة المقبلة.

H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of Transport, chaired Qatar Rail’s Board of Directors meeting at the company’s headquarters. The Board reviewed the company’s key achievements and discussed its strategic plans, objectives, and future projects. His Excellency emphasized the importance of advancing the company’s priorities and future projects in line with the requirements of the next phase.

Our team welcomed students at the Qatar Rail booth during the Lusail University Career Fair, introducing them to the diverse career paths available within the company. We thank Lusail University for the opportunity to connect with the next generation of professionals.

يسعدنا دعم النسخة الثانية والخمسين من مؤتمر IECON 2026، بصفتنا شريك النقل الرسمي للحدث، الذي تنظمه جامعة حمد بن خليفة في فندق شيراتون جراند الدوحة خلال الفترة من 18 إلى 21 أكتوبر الجاري. ويجمع المؤتمر نخبة من المهندسين والباحثين وقادة الصناعة من مختلف أنحاء العالم، لمناقشة أحدث التطورات في مجالات الابتكار والبحث العلمي، واستعراض التقنيات الحديثة في الهندسة الإلكترونية والكهربائية وتطبيقاتها في مختلف القطاعات الصناعية.

ونواصل دعمنا للمبادرات التي تسهم في تطوير وبناء القدرات الوطنية في قطاع النقل بدولة قطر.

We were pleased to receive a recognition award from Lusail University during its Partners Recognition Ceremony, in appreciation of our participation in the university’s Career Fair, which provided an opportunity to connect employers with promising young graduates.

سعدنا باستضافة وفد طلابي من جامعة حمد بن خليفة في زيارة ميدانية بدأت من مستودع ، وصولًا إلى محطة مشيرب، تعرّف خلالها الطلاب على العمليات التشغيلية والجوانب الهندسية والتقنية في قطاع السكك الحديدية.
وتأتي هذه الزيارة في إطار حرصنا على مشاركة المعرفة والخبرات مع الجيل القادم، ودعم تنمية الكفاءات في قطاع النقل بدولة قطر.

We were pleased to welcome students from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) on a field visit, starting at the depot and continuing by metro to Msheireb Station.
The visit offered students a closer look at railway operations, engineering, and technical functions, reflecting our commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting the next generation of talent in Qatar’s transport sector.
