In a step carrying deep political and administrative significance, Prime Minister Kamel Idris chaired today the first Cabinet meeting of 2026 from inside Khartoum, in a clear and practical declaration of the full return of the executive authority to work from the heart of the capital.

The meeting comes after the liberation of Khartoum in March 2025, following months of widespread destruction inflicted by the Rapid Support Militia on state institutions, infrastructure, and residential neighborhoods. The liberation of the capital marked a decisive turning point in the process of restoring the state, and opening the door for official institutions to return to their natural locations.

Holding the Cabinet meeting in Khartoum sends a clear message that state institutions are steadily regaining their presence and functionality, and that executive governance is no longer being conducted away from the country’s political center. This development also signals a new phase in which the government seeks to restore institutional order and directly link executive decision-making to on-the-ground realities.

The move was met with broad public celebration across Sudan, as citizens viewed it as tangible confirmation of the state’s return to its capital and a genuine beginning for the restoration of daily life, institutions, and public services after a prolonged period of forced disruption.






في خطوة تحمل دلالات سياسية وإدارية عميقة، ترأس رئيس الوزراء كامل إدريس اليوم أول اجتماع لمجلس الوزراء للعام 2026 من داخل الخرطوم، في إعلان عملي وصريح عن عودة الجهاز التنفيذي للعمل من قلب العاصمة.

ويأتي هذا الاجتماع بعد تحرير الخرطوم في مارس 2025، عقب أشهر من الدمار الواسع الذي خلّفته مليشيا الدعم السريع في مؤسسات الدولة والبنية التحتية والأحياء السكنية. وقد مثّل تحرير العاصمة لحظة فارقة في مسار استعادة الدولة، وفتحت الباب أمام عودة المؤسسات الرسمية إلى مواقعها الطبيعية.

ويعكس انعقاد الاجتماع في الخرطوم رسالة واضحة بأن مؤسسات الدولة تمضي قدمًا في استعادة حضورها ووظيفتها، وأن العمل التنفيذي لم يعد يُدار من خارج مركز الدولة. كما يشكّل هذا التطور مؤشرًا على مرحلة جديدة تسعى فيها الحكومة إلى إعادة الانتظام المؤسسي، وربط القرار التنفيذي مباشرة بالواقع الميداني.

وقد قوبلت هذه الخطوة باحتفاء واسع في الشارع السوداني، حيث رأى فيها المواطنون تأكيدًا ملموسًا على عودة الدولة إلى عاصمتها، وبداية فعلية لعودة الحياة والمؤسسات والخدمات العامة، بعد مرحلة طويلة من التعطيل القسري.
