Military District is a great neighborhood located in the 6th District in western Bucharest (Romania's capital), the neighborhood comprising mostly apartment blocks. Before 1980 there were only houses in this area, but they were demolished to make way for blocks. Militari district is an old neighborhood, formerly common, which kept rural look to 1970 as contained only houses that were then demolished to make way for ten-storey blocks. The first row of blocks was opened in 1966 and includes, among other things blocks 22, 21, 20 on the north side of Maniu Boulevard (formerly Peace). Administration and Economy
In terms of green space, military district is not very good. Here there are several small parks, but are rather playgrounds. In the neighborhood there are two markets, a police station and an office of accidents findings, eight kindergartens, nine elementary schools, two high schools, two school groups and the Polytechnic University.
