What a week for the Embassy of Canada team in Bulgaria!
On June 3-4, Ambassador Gavin Buchan and team travelled to Plovdiv for the biennial HEMUS defence show and to Sofia to host an event celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Canada and Bulgaria.
As Ambassador Buchan said: “In 1966, Canada and Bulgaria lived in very different geopolitical realities, on opposite sides of what was then the world’s great divide. Today, we stand together as close partners - NATO Allies, committed to democracy, security, and the rule of law, and engaged across a wide spectrum of cooperation… To Canada and Bulgaria. To friendship and partnership. And to the next sixty years!”

The Government of Canada has introduced temporary border measures to reduce the risk of Ebola disease entering and spreading in Canada.
These measures are in place for travellers to Canada who have been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda or South Sudan in the previous 21 days.
If you’re travelling from one of these countries, you will:
- be assessed on arrival
- need a suitable quarantine plan
- need to follow public health measures and instructions provided to you by the Quarantine Officer
The health risk to people in Canada remains low. Ebola disease does not spread through the air and you cannot catch it by walking past someone or breathing the same air in public spaces.
