A bilateral meeting between the SELEC Management and the Head of the Hungarian National Police (Magyar Rendőrség), High Commissioner Police Major General Dr. Tamás Mecser, was held on 7th of October 2026, in Budapest/Hungary, to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation and identifying further measures to enhance joint efforts within the framework of SELEC.

The 39th SEEPAG Conference having as topic ‘Special investigative measures in SEEPAG Member States and their application in transnational cases’, organized in the framework of the Hungarian Chairmanship, successfully concluded on the 6th of October 2026, in Budapest/Hungary.

The theme was of particular interest for the SEEPAG Members, representatives of the prosecution offices of SELEC partner countries, as well as partner organizations and bodies, such as European Judicial Network and GCCPOL.

The participants concluded the full range of special investigative techniques are recommended to be included in criminal procedure acts, as best results can be expected from the well-thought-out and combined application of such measures.

At the end of the Conference, the Chairmanship of SEEPAG for 2027 was transferred to Montenegro, in accordance with the alphabetical rotation procedure provided by the General Guidelines of SEEPAG.

The 27th anniversary of SELEC represents an important milestone in our organization’s history and an opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved over the years.

Since its establishment, SELEC has continuously developed its capabilities and adapted to evolving challenges. This progress has been made possible through the professionalism and dedication of the staff and directors who have served our organization throughout the years.

As we mark this anniversary, SELEC honours our national and international partners, as well as all institutions and individuals whose support and cooperation have been an important part of our journey.

We appreciate the achievements of the present and look forward with confidence to the future.

Following SELEC Council’s decision, the EU Advisory Mission EUAM Ukraine has officially joined SELEC as an Observer, reinforcing a shared commitment to regional stability.

Together, EUAM Ukraine and SELEC will strengthen cross-border security and unite efforts in combating organized crime and regional threats.

This strategic partnership expands SELEC’s global network to 21 Observers and 8 Operational Partners.

A transnational criminal organization involved in transporting large quantities of raw cannabis from Albania to Türkiye via Greece was dismantled.

The investigation was preceded by the appropriate assessment of intelligence concerning the organization’s activities, through operational meetings and information exchange supported by SELEC.

Following police actions, verification and cross-checking of information, more than 324 kilograms of raw cannabis were seized, carefully concealed in a load of paper for recycling.

Two members of the criminal organization were arrested in Greece and one in Republic of North Macedonia.

Mr. Chavdar Georgiev, Director for Operations, represented SELEC at the 3rd Annual International Scientific Conference, hosted by the Academy of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The forum gathered academic community, European law enforcement agencies and various units of the Ministry of Interior to address AI in law enforcement and emerging technological challenges in modern policing. The working program, opened by Deputy Rector of the Academy, Commissioner Prof. Ilin Savov, PhD, DSc, focused on: countering 3D-printed fi****ms threats and Advanced 3D Crime-Scene Reconstruction using NeRF and Gaussian Splatting.

During his presentation, Mr. Georgiev highlighted SELEC's vital role in fostering regional law enforcement cooperation against organized and cybercrime while exploring future partnerships to integrate new technologies applicable to criminal investigations.
