Join TESIM thematic event “Cross-border Environment in Practice: What Positive Changes Are Projects Bringing to Border Regions?” and explore how Interreg NEXT projects are helping communities address shared environmental challenges through practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions.

The event will bring together project representatives from five Interreg NEXT programmes:

Participants will learn about successful initiatives and exchange experiences around three key topics:

🌱 Protecting and managing ecosystems, including species and habitat conservation and sustainable ecosystem management;
♻️ Greener and cleaner environments, including urban green infrastructure, pollution reduction, waste and recycling, water-related actions;
🤝 Enabling change through people, knowledge and behaviour, including awareness, education, capacity building and long-term sustainability of project results.

🚒 Safety Knows No Borders 🌍

🇷🇴🤝🇺🇦 Firefighters from Coaș (Romania) and Kosiv (Ukraine) came together for the first joint practical activity under the RESPONDIS project: 🔥 Forest fire prevention, 🌊 Flood risk management, 🚨 Early warning systems,🌱 Climate adaptation & ecosystem protection.

👨‍🚒 Two days of teamwork, field exercises, and shared experience proved once again that community safety is built through cooperation, trust, and partnership. 🏡

Increasing the response capacity and resilience to natural disasters and climate change of the communities of Coaș and Kosiv, as well as of the surrounding ecosystems.

🚒 Construction and endowment of a Fire Station in Coaș Commune, including a first responder and command vehicle, firefighting equipment, breathing devices, backhoe loader, and other specialized equipment

• 1 Professional center with CNC machines and robots created within IFNTUOG (CNC machine simulator laboratory, training laboratory on technologies with CNC machines, Computer class with CAD/CAM systems)

👨‍🚒🤝👩‍🚒 Working together for people’s safety!

🚒🇷🇴🇺🇦 Rescuers from Suceava and Chernivtsi joined training activities under the FLAMECONTROL project, an Operation of Strategic Importance for the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme.

🌍 The project was designated as an operation of strategic importance due to its strong contribution to improving cross-border emergency response capacities, enhancing cooperation between rescue services, and increasing the safety and resilience of communities on both sides of the border.

Together, partners are strengthening professional skills, international cooperation, and emergency preparedness for today’s challenges by:

Enhance cross-border emergency response capabilities and interoperability among Romania and Ukraine by equipping and training emergency response professionals and constructing key infrastructure, thereby improving the preparedness and operational efficiency in managing climate-related and other natural disasters in Suceava County and Chernivtsi Oblast.

Improving the safety of life of the rural and urban population on Romania-Ukraine cross-border area (Chernivtsi Oblast and Suceava County) through the informational-practical campaign regarding the risk of natural or anthropogenic disasters, raising awareness on prevention and efficient management of risks, as well as improving first aid skills among school age children.

🏥 Within the MEDICUNITY project, a delegation of medical professionals from “Dr. Constantin Opriș” Baia Mare County Emergency Hospital participated in the 4th medical recovery training session held in Uzhgorod, Zakarpattia Region, Ukraine, between 4–7 May 2026. 🇺🇦🇷🇴

🩺 The medical training sessions within the HEALTHERA project (ROUA00228) have officially started!

The first workshop took place on 12–13 May, bringing together medical professionals to explore the latest protocols and procedures for cardiovascular emergencies and critical situations.
More training sessions will continue until July, strengthening cooperation and sharing updated medical knowledge between Tulcea County Emergency Hospital and Izmail City Central Hospital for the benefit of local communities. 🤝🚑

Project objective:
Ensuring equal access to health care fostering resilience of the health system, including primary care, and promoting the transition from institutional to family and community-based care.

Results and main activities:
- about 2,000 persons will benefit annually from the modernised health care facilities
- Endowment of the Tuberculosis Department of the Tulcea County Hospital with medical furniture for stocking and locking the medical consumables, support trolleys for adjacent compact equipment, and for other technical moving.
- Endowment of Izmail City Central Hospital with specialised equipment as non-invasive lung ventilators, diagnostic laparoscope, thoracoscope, nephoscopes, etc

🏞️Блакитні екосистеми - це не лише водойми, а й активні міські простори, де можна поєднувати відпочинок, спорт, освіту та культурні заходи. Вони створюють можливості для прогулянок, веломаршрутів, каякінгу🛶, пікніків🧺, занять йогою на природі🧘 та навчальних екскурсій для дітей і дорослих. Саме такі простори допомагають містянам відновлювати сили, знижувати стрес і насолоджуватися спілкуванням із природою, не виїжджаючи за межі міста.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🏙️У європейських містах, таких як Амстердам та Копенгаген, набережні, канали та міські водойми інтегровані в повсякденне життя. Blue Spaces — Places for Recreation, Sports, and Inspiration🚴‍♀️

As part of the information and awareness campaign under the UrbanLakes - Cross-border synergy for blue ecosystem preservation (U_Lakes) project — we are sharing information on how blue zones become spaces for recreation and inspiration.

🏞️Blue ecosystems are not just bodies of water, but also active urban spaces where you can combine recreation, sports, education, and cultural events. They offer opportunities for walks, bike routes, kayaking🛶, picnics🧺, outdoor yoga🧘, and educational excursions for children and adults. It is precisely these spaces that help city dwellers recharge, reduce stress, and enjoy connecting with nature without leaving the city.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🏙️In European cities such as Amsterdam and Copenhagen, waterfronts, canals, and urban water bodies are integrated into daily life. They become hubs of social activity, hosting festivals, sports competitions, cultural events, and artistic performances, bringing the community together and fostering a sense of belonging.🎶 In Ukraine, lakes and parks near bodies of water are also becoming favorite recreational spots for families, athletes, tourists, and nature lovers, offering safe and comfortable areas for both active and passive leisure.🦆

🐦The combination of recreational value and natural functions makes blue ecosystems key to the sustainable and livable development of cities. They contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, natural climate regulation, and the reduction of noise and heat pollution, while also creating social spaces where the community can gather, relax, and learn.👥
