The EU Financial Literacy Strategy: What the EU is doing & how it links to WISE ๐ก
Financial literacy is much more than just understanding numbersโit is an essential life skill. It enables people to make informed decisions, manage their budgets, protect themselves from scams, save efficiently, avoid over-indebtedness, and achieve true financial independence and security.
Yet, across the EU, levels of financial literacy remain strikingly low: according to the Eurobarometer survey, less than one-fifth (18%) of EU citizens have a high level of financial literacy.
To address this gap, the European Commission is stepping up its efforts with The EU Financial Literacy Strategyโa comprehensive framework to better support everyone living in Europe of all ages and backgrounds across Europe. ๐
๐ค How this connects to the WISE Project: At WISE, our core mission is empowering migrant women by providing them with the best tools, resources, and educational solutions for integration and independence. Financial literacy is a cornerstone of self-relianceโespecially for female migrants navigating new economic environments and working toward long-term security for themselves and their families.
The EU Financial Literacy Strategy strongly reinforces our mission at WISE, underscoring the urgent need for targeted, inclusive financial education across Europe.
