Wish Irkutsk anti-fascist Anton Kalakin a happy birthday!

Anton will turn 37 on October 9. This will be his first birthday in prison.

Anton lived in Irkutsk, worked as a security guard and repaired boats, ran a Telegram channel about the history of his hometown, helped homeless animals, and went to punk concerts.

At the end of October 2025, Anton was sentenced to six years in a general-regime penal colony on charges of “justifying terrorism” over two comments on Telegram.

In the first comment, he wrote that captured Azov fighters should be released. Anton left the second comment under a news story reporting that the regional governor considered military spending a higher priority than repairing schools. Kalakin wrote: “Hang him from a lamppost on Karl Marx Street, without trial or investigation!”
Anton is serving his sentence in Penal Colony No. 14 (IK-14) in Angarsk. His health has deteriorated significantly in prison. Even before his arrest, he had been diagnosed with post-thrombotic disease of the right lower leg. While in prison, Federal Penitentiary Service doctors also diagnosed him with a kidney cyst and atherosclerosis of the common carotid artery. In August, Anton’s mother reported that his legs had become severely swollen and that subcutaneous hemorrhages had appeared on his eyelids. He needs surgery on the veins in his legs and must take medication continuously.

We call on you to show solidarity and support Anton. He will be very happy to receive your birthday wishes!

19-year-old anarchist Dmitry Syutkin has begun studying languages intensively in prison. Let’s support Dmitry in his efforts!

Dima has started learning English and plans to learn the basics of German and French. In July and August, the project already sent him English and French textbooks. It is not yet clear whether these suited his needs, so the project wants to send him another batch of study materials, including a German textbook that we need to purchase for him.

Check for donation instructions from our website - link in stories and highlights!

Dima keeps his spirits up in detention and jokes a lot. He is a curious, outgoing person with a wide range of interests who, unfortunately, receives few letters so far.

Besides languages, he is interested in history, screenwriting and psychology.

At school, Dima was a member of a drama club and volunteered to help clean up parks in his home village of Sosva and take part in charity concerts for children with disabilities.

Address for letters - letters and address must be written in Russian, you may use automated online translation services.
Адрес для писем: 620024, Свердловская область, г. Екатеринбург, Елизаветинское шоссе, д. 19, СИЗО-5,

Electronic letters can also be sent through ZT (link in our site).

In 2023, Dima was contacted by an “unnamed handler” from the Siberian Battalion, who offered him “help leaving the country”. The person he was speaking to put him in touch with another “handler”, this time from the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), who asked the teenager to deliver Molotov cocktails to some people. FSB officers were waiting for him at the meeting point.

Dima was charged with various charges of terrorism, the charges could carry a sentence of 10 years in prison. The next hearing is scheduled for 7 October.

Before his arrest, Dima lived in Serov, in the Sverdlovsk Region, and was studying logistics at college. He ran a Telegram channel called “Free Homeland”, where he promoted anarchist ideas and Ural separatism.

Wish political prisoner and antifascist Bogdan Yakimenko a happy birthday!

Tomorrow on September 3, Moscow antifascist Bogdan Yakimenko will turn 27. This will be his third birthday in captivity.

In February 2026, Bogdan was sentenced to 9 years in a penal colony in the Antifa United “extremist community” case. According to law enforcement, he was the “organizer” of the Antifa United social media page (an antifascist clothing brand) and the “331 Firm” chat, where attacks on “ideological enemies” were allegedly planned.
The other defendants, who were charged as “members of the community” and, unlike Bogdan, had remained free during the proceedings, received shorter but still actual prison sentences.

The Antifa United case is not the first time Bogdan has faced prosecution. In January 2020, he and his acquaintance Mikhail Ivanov were attacked in Moscow by a group of eight neo-Nazis. A fight broke out, and Ivanov used means of self-defense. In the end, the antifascists were charged with hooliganism, and later another charge was added: “causing minor bodily harm, motivated by ideological hatred”.

In this case, Yakimenko and Ivanov spent a year under house arrest and were then placed under travel restrictions. After the first verdict, which was subsequently overturned, they spent eight months in pre-trial detention. In 2023, Bogdan was sentenced to 4 years of forced labor. The sentence was appealed and has still not entered into force.

Bogdan has never hidden his views and linked the attention he received from the Center “E” anti-extremism police and the FSB to his antifascist activism. He did not want to leave Russia, studied law, and dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

We call on you to support Bogdan. Wish him a happy birthday — send him a letter or a postcard!

Presentation in Prosfygika, Athens: Repression against anarchists and anti-fascists in Russia

Over the summer in Prosfygika, there will be a series of events about the different struggles all over the world of the internationalist comrades, collectives and organizations that contributed to the victory and defense of Prosfygika. The events will happen both in Athens as also as an online livestream.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more and more anarchists and anti-fascists have ended up in prison for resisting the war and the regime in Russia. Who are the anarchists and anti-fascists imprisoned for anti-war and other political activities? What initiatives exist to support them? Are social movements in Russia still possible despite increasing repression?

Antti Rautiainen lived in Moscow from 1999 to 2012 and participated in anti-fascist and anarchist movements until he was deported. Since his deportation, he has remained active in supporting anarchist prisoners in Russia.

Tomorrow is birthday of Tyumen case defendant Roman Paklin!

Written by the support group Тюменское дело :

On August 21, our dear Roma will turn 29. This will be the fourth birthday that our comrade will spend in detention.

Roma is an anarchist and antifascist from Surgut of Siberia. Together with Nikita Oleynik, another defendant in the “Tyumen case,” he created the libertarian library Burevestnik (Storm petrel), which housed books on anarchist theory and philosophy. To make it easier for you to start a conversation with Roma, here is a reminder of his interests: you can write to him about animals, cars, books, history, philosophy, yoga, or Buddhism. He cares deeply about nature and loves Siberia, the place where he grew up.

Despite all the difficulties our comrade has faced in detention and his serious health problems, he remains optimistic and keeps his spirits up. We would be sincerely grateful if you wished Roma a happy birthday!
Write Roma a letter with birthday wishes and words of support! He really needs them right now!

Wish Nikita a Happy Birthday! Канское дело

On August 17, Nikita Uvarov will turn 21. It’s hard to believe, because he was only 14 when he was detained. In 2022, a court sentenced Nikita to five years in prison, and he was supposed to be released at the age of 20. But Nikita is now turning 21, and he is still behind bars.

In the summer of 2020, in the city of Kansk in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region, Nikita Uvarov and his friends, who shared anarchist ideals, put up leaflets supporting political prisoners and criticizing the state. One of the leaflets was posted on the building of the local FSB office.

Later the authorities fabricated a case accusing them of “training for terrorism” — alleging that the teenagers had been preparing to blow up the FSB building in Kansk.

A month before his release, a new case was fabricated against Nikita. Investigators claim that while in the penal colony, Nikita allegedly spread the “laws of the criminal world” among other prisoners. Yet Penal Colony No. 31, where he was serving his sentence, is a tightly controlled, or “red,” colony, where prison subculture exists only to the extent that the administration finds it useful.

It is particularly telling that the case was initiated on the basis of materials from the Krasnoyarsk regional FSB literally just before Nikita’s sentence was due to end. In February, Nikita was transferred to Pretrial Detention Center No. 1 (SIZO-1) in Krasnoyarsk, after which a court ordered him to remain in custody on the new charge. As a result, when March 19 — the day Nikita was supposed to be released — arrived, he did not walk free.

Under the new charges, Nikita faces another two to six years in prison. Nikita will once again spend his birthday — his 21st — behind bars. That is why we are asking you to wish him a happy birthday and remind him that throughout all these years, people have remembered him and are waiting for him to be free.

Nikita’s birthday is very soon, so we recommend using electronic services to send letters.

Send birthday wishes to antifascist political prisoner Savely Frolov

Savely Frolov will turn 25 on 5 August. This will be his fourth birthday in captivity.

Savely is an antifascist and anti-war activist from Moscow who worked as an extreme sports instructor for children and teenagers. He was sentenced to six years in a general-regime penal colony and fined 100,000 roubles on charges of “preparing to commit high treason.”

Savely Frolov was accused of preparing to join the Freedom of Russia Legion in order to take part in military action against Russia.

Savely has faced pressure from the prison administration. Savely has been assigned to the lowest caste in the informal prison hierarchy. As in Azat Miftakhov’s case, we assume that this was orchestrated by the security services through prisoners controlled by the administration. However, as an antifascist, Savely rejects hierarchies and discrimination, and therefore does not worry about the informal status imposed on him by the administration and other prisoners. “He simply doesn’t give a damn about it, that’s all,” says a comrade who knows Savely well and remains in contact with him.

We call on you to show solidarity and wish Savely a happy birthday. You can write him a letter or simply send him a birthday card. He will be glad to receive any news from outside.

Fundraiser for Legal Defence Costs of the Tyumen Case Against Anarchists and Anti-fascists in August and September

The Tyumen Case has now been heard by the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg of Russia for two years. The defence is currently presenting evidence in court proving the innocence of our comrades.
Six substantive hearings are scheduled for August and the first half of September. We continue our fight for the freedom of Nikita Oleynik, Deniz Aydin, Yury Neznamov, Danil Chertykov, and Roman Paklin.

Support group is launching a fundraiser to cover the legal defence costs of the defendants in the Tyumen Case. We need to raise 560 000 rubles (circa 6200 euros) to pay for the participation of five lawyers in the upcoming six court hearings.

To raise this amount, the support group has launched a fundraising campaign. Once again, we need your support!
As a reminder, between 30 August and 1 September 2022, six anarchists and anti-fascists were detained in Surgut, Yekaterinburg, and Tyumen of Russia. They were subjected to brutal torture, including electric shocks, water torture, beatings, and threats of sexual violence. Based on confessions extracted under torture, they were charged with "creating and participating in a terrorist community". The charges were later made even more severe. The authorities refused to investigate the torture.

Kirill Brik, who entered into a plea agreement with the investigation, was sentenced to eight years in prison. The remaining defendants reject all charges against them. Roman Paklin's case has been reopened and is now being tried separately from the rest of the Tyumen Case defendants. He, along with the others, faces 15 to 30 years in prison. Nikita Oleynik, who has been designated by the prosecution as the alleged "organiser," could face life imprisonment. In Russia, no person with a life sentence has ever been released.

Wish imprisoned anarchist Deniz Aydin a happy birthday today!

Today, July 21, anarchist Deniz Aydin celebrates his birthday. He turns 27 years old.

Deniz is an anarchist and anti-fascist from Tyumen. He played guitar in two bands: the hardcore group Siberian Brigade and the black metal project RASPUTIN. Shortly before his arrest, he enrolled in college to train as a locomotive driver. He planned to continue developing as a musician and dreamed of creating a support fund for political prisoners.

In August 2022, Deniz was detained together with Kirill Brik while testing a homemade firecracker in a vacant lot. Later, their comrades from Yekaterinburg and Surgut were also arrested. All of them were accused of participating in a terrorist organization in what has become known as the Tyumen Case. While in police custody, Deniz was beaten and tortured in an attempt to force a confession.

Despite everything, Deniz has not lost heart. While in pre-trial detention, he has been drawing, doing CrossFit, studying foreign languages, and writing poetry. He reads extensively across many genres, enjoys metal music, cinema, and art—and he also loves memes.

This is already the fourth birthday Deniz has spent behind bars under Putin's regime. You can support him by sending a letter, a postcard, or even a collection of memes.
