Today, The Director General of RAB, Dr. Telesphore Ndabamenye , received representatives of the Rwanda Mushroom Producers and Exporters Association for a meeting focused on challenges, opportunities, and a way forward to strengthen mushroom agriculture, transitioning from subsistence to market-oriented farming.

Today, Dr. Uwamahoro Florence, the Deputy Director General for Agricultural Development, received a courtesy visit from Martin Parent, the French Counselor for Agricultural Affairs for East Africa and the Indian Ocean. Their discussions focused on strengthening existing bilateral cooperation in agricultural development. After their discussions, Martin Parent and his delegation toured agricultural research activities, including laboratories and a coffee germplasm plantation at Rubona Station, aiming to understand the country's approach to utilizing research and technology for agricultural development.

This afternoon, the recently appointed Israeli Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E Ambassador Einat Weiss, visited the Rwanda-Israel Center of Excellence for Horticultural Development located at Mulindi, Gasabo District. During this visit, Ambassador Weiss engaged in discussions with Dr. Florence Uwamahoro, the Deputy Director-General for Agricultural Development. The discussions centered on Israel's significant role in enhancing horticulture through advanced technology, especially in high-quality seedling production. They also delved into the operational intricacies of the center& strategies for transforming horticulture into a business. Following these fruitful discussions, Ambassador Einat Weiss embarked on a tour of the center to gain firsthand insight into the cultivation of seedlings in the nursery.

The meeting has concluded with remarks from the Deputy/DG for Agriculture Development, Dr. Florence Uwamahoro, who emphasized the importance for companies and partners to actively engage with smallholder farmers while strategizing for the sustainability of the bean value chain and market linkage. Additionally, she urged everyone in bean value chain to contemplate ways to enhance and reconsider approaches that could increase the adoption and usage of improved bean seeds by farmers.

Happening now, RAB has teamed up with to coordinate a one-day meeting involving various actors within the bean value chain. This gathering has brought together government officials, partners, and investors to strategize for the production of bean seeds during the 2024A season. The central agenda involves discussing the roles of each participant in enhancing the sustainability of the bean value chain, as well as promoting the utilization of high-quality bean seeds.
