Today, students from the University of Rwanda, based at the Rwanda National Police College in Musanze, visited the Rwanda Law Reform Commission for an enriching educational tour. The students are pursuing studies in Translation & Interpreting as well as Linguistics & Literature.
Led by Dr. Rudacogora Augustin, the delegation was welcomed by Chairperson Ms. Dushimimana Claudine at the Rwanda Law Reform Commission, where students gained in-depth insight into the Commission’s mandate in law reform and citizen-centered legislative drafting. Through a detailed presentation by the Legislative Drafting and Translation Department, they explored the precision of legal language, translation techniques grounded in legislative knowledge, and the importance of teamwork and expert collaboration in preventing misinterpretation; effectively connecting academic study with real-world professional practice.

Today, Mrs. Dushimimana Claudine, RLRC Chairperson, has joined Law Commissoners of the region at the Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Association of Law Reform Agencies of Eastern and Southern Africa (ALRAESA) in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Held under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Law Reform in Africa: Re-imagining the Role of Law Reform Agencies in the Digital Era,” the conference brings together key institutions from across the region to exchange ideas and advance collaborative law reform. It unpacks how AI is reshaping law reform in Africa; from impacts on legal systems& governance to regional institutions’ readiness. Delegates are exploring AI tools for smarter law-making, sharing experiences & shaping ethical, inclusive AI policies that consider African contexts.
