What a great way to start the new year!
2023 is off to a good start with some outstanding yields. On this demonstration plot in Nyabihu, we harvested 1000 kg of potatoes over a 250 square meter area. We also appreciate the participation of all the farmers to whom we have been offering trainings on this demonstration plot.

The harvesting season is almost here! Our agronomists are visiting the lead
farmers this week to assist them with the dehaulming process. Dehaulming is one of the pre-harvest procedures, which aims to harden the tubers' skin and minimize injuries during post-harvest handling.

Along with different panelists, Jean Paul Mutabazi, the country director of Money.phone participated on the panel during . The panel was discussing "How to improve farmers' access to finance & insurance". Jean Paul said that MoneyPhone’s contribution to ease access to finance for farmers is to avail to farmers. are now able to explore various alternatives accessible to them, such as applying for digital loans on their smartphones, thanks to the training on and financial planning that MoneyPhone provides.

Good morning from the field! Seed potato fund is hosting a farmer field day with 40 potato growers from one of the demonstration plots in Nyabihu district. The following topics are being discussed: farm selection, land preparation, potato seed quality, and planting techniques.

Olive Mutuyimana from Agriterra paid a visit to cooperative Icyerekezo Bugeshi and KOAIRA She was following up on the application of QuickBooks software. Both accountants of the cooperatives said that they were missing out because the software made their work much easier, and that it is easy for them to report to the members of the cooperative.

To promote organic farming, the SDGP potato project constantly recommends that farmers use compost manure made from animal waste and other organic residues. Members of farmer study groups of the COVMB cooperative saved money to buy some livestock animals for members who did not have them. This is a great initiative that stems from the knowledge gained.

Good day from the field!
The agronomists from our project partners are receiving insights from a potato expert, Jan Salomons from Delphy. During his two-day visit, he is visiting our demonstration plots in different districts while providing insights on potato protection during its early stages of growth.

Partnership for the goals (goal 17), is actually the most import of all the SDGs because achieving the other goals depends on it.
To achieve zero hunger (goal 2), we need all the partners in our project and the farmers we work with to work together to achieve that goal. For everyone to benefit, everyone needs to contribute.

Today, we are having a two-day partners workshop facilitated by crosswise works on mid-term review of the SDGP Potato Value Chain Development Project to reflect on what has been accomplished, challenges faced, their mitigation strategy, impacts on farmers' livelihoods, and future strategies.
