Service in Action: ATIS Brings Joy to Bahay Kalinga

Bahay Kalinga is a charitable institution committed to providing care, shelter, and support to FIlipinos in need, especially children. Through its dedicated compassion and service, Bahay Kalinga remains a place for distressed OFWs here in Saudi Arabia to be helped in times of need.

In support of this mission, the Student Government Organization led by its president Miguel Jamero organized a donation program to help the residents in Bahay Kalinga. In this program, the Al Taj International School managed to donate 13 boxes of pre-loved clothes, school supplies, toiletries, and toys for the children, achieving to help address both their basic needs and to bring joy at the same time.

On February 9, 2026, the school’s donation was personally delivered with the help of the Student Government Organization to the Bahay Kalinga located in the MWO building. Through this program, hosted by the Social Welfare attache Ms. Rosemarie F. Alvez , the students were able to participate in such an eye opening experience, strengthening the value of community service that we should instill in our life.

The activity was a meaningful and fulfilling experience for everyone involved. It did not only provide some of their needs, but also encouraged the students to practice empathy and generosity to their fellow people. Because of this program, students were able to reflect on their own situations and appreciate what they have. Being able to be a part of a worthwhile undertaking that could create a phenomenal experience for young leaders like us is a real service to mankind. This activity hits the target of the ATIS SGO, that is, to practice the act of giving without expecting anything in return.

Powerfully moved by the inspirational speech rendered by Principal Perly when she exhorted Hebrews 11:1 - “Faith is the assurance of the things we are hoped for…”, the distressed workers learned to be hopeful while patiently waiting for their expatriation. Not only does this teach us to be grateful, but it teaches us that everyone, even in simple ways, can all create positive change in the community.

Through this program, Al Taj International School and its Student Government Organization showed their commitment to helping others.

Growing, Learning, Succeeding Together: A Team Building Experience for the Senior High School Students

The Senior High School students of Al Taj International School came together last Thursday, January 29, 2026 for a meaningful team-building activity entitled “Growing, Learning, Succeeding Together.” The event aimed to strengthen teamwork, leadership, and communication skills while fostering unity and a deeper sense of belonging among students.
Ms. Nancy Roque, ATIS Academic Coordinator and Grade 12 adviser, delivered an inspiring talk that highlighted the importance of collaboration, personal growth, and loyalty to Al Taj International School. She encouraged students to take pride in their school and to contribute positively to its community.
The activity was facilitated by Senior High School teachers Mr. Pax Barrios, Mr. Bryan Sotto, and Mr. Rhaniel Lacson, who led interactive group tasks, challenges, and reflective discussions. These activities helped students experience the value of cooperation, responsibility, and commitment to shared goals.
The Spaghetti Game helped students practice communication and creativity by working together to build something using limited materials. The Sleigh Game encouraged teamwork and trust as students had to coordinate their movements to succeed. The Station Games developed problem-solving and critical thinking through puzzles, math challenges, and memory tasks. The tableau activity improved creativity and cooperation by asking students to express ideas as a group without speaking. The blindfolded follow-the-leader game strengthened trust and listening skills as students relied on clear guidance from their teammates.
Through laughter, challenges, and cooperation, students learned that success is not achieved alone. This team-building experience helped strengthen bonds, build confidence, and prepare students to face academic and life challenges together as one Senior High School community of Al Taj International School.

LEADERSHIP IN DIPLOMACY

JANUARY 25, 2026 — SSG President, Jose Miguel Jamero, and SSG Vice President Internal, Tatiana Leigh Upao, represent Al Taj International School in the Philippine Embassy for the 3rd Student Leaders' Immersion titled A Day in the Life of A Diplomat: Student Leaders' Immersion, wherein the Philippine Embassy tours our representatives around their various departments and sections and their day-to-day functions and routines.
The immersion comprised 9 schools, including Al Taj International School (ATIS), Al Majd International School in Dammam (AMISD), Al Danah International School (ADIS), Elite International School (EIS), International Philippine School in Al Khobar (IPSA), International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR), Future Generation Philippine International School (FGPIS), Palm Crest International School (PCIS), and Second Philippine International School (SPIS).
The program commenced with welcome remarks from H.E. Ambassador Raymond R. Balatbat, followed by an extensive technical tour of the mission’s core sections. At the Political Affairs Section, students gained insights into bilateral relations and treaty organization, while the Administrative Section provided a detailed look at the logistics of communications, property procurement, and the ethical management of public funds within the Finance subsection.
The immersion continued with the Economic Prosperity Section, focusing on trade and the promotion of Filipino products, followed by the Public and Cultural Affairs Section. The student leaders also observed the frontline operations of the Assistance to Nationals (ATN) and Consular Sections, learning about the vital services provided to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), ranging from legal assistance to passport and voting services.
Following a formal lunch at the Ambassador’s Residence, the representatives met with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) to discuss labor accreditations and the Police Attachés regarding security mandates and the Foreign Liaison Program.
The day concluded with a high-level round-table Q&A session with Ambassador Balatbat. This program served as a remarkable platform for our student leaders to understand the complexities of diplomacy and the unwavering commitment required in public service.
