A meaningful day in the Holy City of Medinah, where some of the first Belgian pilgrims for were warmly welcomed.

H.E. Pascal Grégoire, Ambassador of Belgium to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Mr. Andrej Barth, Consul, had the honour of meeting nearly 80 Belgian pilgrims—women and men from across the country—at the start of their spiritual journey. 🇧🇪🕋

The occasion was also marked by the handover of the very first copy of the new Hajj Handbook for Belgian Pilgrims, delivered by H.E. Dr. Osama Al Bishri, CEO of the Pilgrims Awareness Center, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Tawfig AlRabiah, Minister of Hajj & Umrah.

Wishing all pilgrims a safe and spiritually enriching Hajj.

The Consul, Andrej Barth, had the pleasure of meeting the Belgians in the Jeddah area last week! 🇧🇪✨

On the agenda of the two-day mission were:
• Providing MobileKit services at two locations 📄
• Meeting key interlocutors at MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in Jeddah 🤝
• Checking in with VFS Global in Jeddah ✈️
• Hosting a dinner for the Belgian community 🍽️
• Visiting KAUST and KAEC 🏫🌊

Special thanks to our Honorary Consul Hassan Kabbani for his invaluable logistical support, without which this mission could not have been carried out so smoothly!

It was particularly exciting to meet the Belgian professors, researchers, and students at KAUST, a world-class research university known for its cutting-edge scientific research, innovation and real world problem-solving mindset.

Job opening: Multidisciplinary residential helper

The Embassy of Belgium is looking for a multidisciplinary residential helper (local staff/residence of the ambassador)

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the consul, your main tasks will be:
• Cooking for the ambassador and his guests
• Cleaning the kitchen and the dishes
• Maintenance of the appliances and disposal of waste
• Care and storage of household linen and clothing (sorting the laundry, washing, ironing, folding and tidying, sewing, etc.)
• Reporting regularly upon the condition of the house/providing information about any possible damage or wear and tear to the furniture and buildings
• Going shopping (for food or other things) according to the available budget (to be written down) in order to replenish stocks
• Changing the sheets and making the beds

Required Competences / Qualities:
• Good command of English
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Sociability and a sense for initiative
• Able to work in a team
• Service-oriented (internal and external users)
• Respect / courtesy
• Flexibility

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the consul, your main tasks will be:
• Maintaining and repairing equipment and facilities in business or residential buildings.
• Fixing machinery, plumbing, heating and wiring
• Inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards

Required Competences / Qualities:
• Good command of English
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Sociability and a sense for initiative
• Ability to work under pressure
• The Cleaning/maintenance operative should have no criminal record
• High standards of integrity
