In a major technology driven initiative aimed at curbing the spread of harmful online content, the Hyderabad City Police has launched “SOCEYE – Social Media Observation and Cyber Intelligence”, an advanced AI based application designed for intelligent social media surveillance of cyber trouble mongers, trending online issues that might disrupt public order, analysis, and investigation.

The initiative reflects the Hyderabad City Police’s continued commitment towards adopting cutting edge technologies and leveraging Artificial Intelligence in policing and public safety.
Conventionally, monitoring multiple social media platforms, tracking habitual cyber trouble mongers, and identifying harmful narratives required extensive manpower and continuous manual scrutiny. SOCEYE now enables intelligent automated surveillance, real time analysis, and investigative support through a unified AI driven platform, significantly reducing the enormous manual effort involved in round the clock social media monitoring.

In its pilot phase itself, SOCEYE showed exceptional success by identifying 85 hateful and communally sensitive content pertaining to the Puranapul X Road incident earlier this year and 126 posts across multiple handles pertaining to the Gudimalkapur issue. Timely content takedown steps were initiated ensuring continuity of peace and harmony and identification of trouble mongers.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗬𝗘 -

𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 -

SOCEYE features a comprehensive intelligent dashboard that integrates data from multiple disparate sources to provide real time situational awareness. Inputs from Dial-100, internal intelligence alerts, ongoing city events, and other operational feeds, enabling officers to obtain a consolidated operational picture at a single glance.

𝟮. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 -

Continuously and automatically monitors social media trouble mongers, including communal handles. Top priority has been accorded to keep tab on Narcotics,issues pertaining to women safety. AI models identify CSAM, Cyber bullying, stalking and alerts automatically. An underlying AI model intelligently categorises content into High, Medium, and Low risk categories based on the nature and sensitivity of the posts.

The system further facilitates escalation of objectionable or harmful content to the concerned social media platforms for necessary action, while maintaining comprehensive records and tracking of all such requests.

A notable feature of this module is the sharing network analysis capability, which identifies accounts and followers actively amplifying or repeatedly sharing sensitive content. This has greatly reduced manual monitoring efforts which otherwise required several hours of continuous scrutiny by dedicated teams.

𝟯. 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 -

SOCEYE also provides an improved mechanism for handling grievances reported by the public through official Hyderabad City Police social media handles.

The AI model categorises complaints, assigns unique tracking numbers, enables end to end status monitoring from receipt to disposal, and supports analytical assessment of recurring issues and frequently reported locations. This enhances responsiveness, accountability, and data driven policing.

𝟰. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 -

Given the large number of protests, public gatherings, religious processions, and events handled in the city on a daily basis, SOCEYE enables automatic event based monitoring.

The application automatically creates monitoring frameworks based on event specific keywords and continuously tracks related social media activity in real time. The system assists in early identification of potential threats or developments that may disrupt Law & Order, thereby improving preventive policing capabilities while significantly reducing manual workload.

𝟱. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 -

The platform includes multiple inbuilt analytical and investigative utilities, along with a repository of SOCMINT and OSINT tools to support cybercrime investigations, social media related cases, and conventional investigations involving digital or cyber elements.

𝟲. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 -

SOCEYE also features a powerful global search engine capable of instantly searching public profiles and aggregating all publicly available posts related to specific keywords in real time. This enables officers to quickly obtain a comprehensive understanding of emerging narratives and developments.

It is a proud moment for Telangana Police to be recognized by Hon'ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Jagadalpur, Chhattisgarh for the efforts done by Telangana Police in eliminating Naxals terrorism and establishing permanent peace and security in the state.

This respect belongs to every police officer and every soldier in Telangana. Telangana has emerged as a Naxal free state especially due to the courage, sacrifice and coordination of Greyhounds, Intelligence, OCTOPUS and Field units.
