Today, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), through the E-Commerce Implementation Unit (EIU), successfully convened a strategic coordination meeting with key divisions to advance the implementation of the National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS) 2022โ2027.
๐ Held at the MCILI Conference Room, the meeting focused on strengthening internal coordination and aligning efforts across the Ministry to drive digital trade and e-commerce development in Solomon Islands.

Strengthening Coordination and Monitoring of Solomon Islands National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS) 2022-2027
The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), through the E-Commerce Implementation Unit (EIU), successfully convened the NECS Implementation Coordination Meeting on Friday, 17 April 2026 at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.
The meeting brought together lead implementing agencies responsible for delivering the National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS) 2022โ2027, with the objective of reviewing progress, strengthening coordination, and enhancing data-sharing mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of priority strategic measures.
In his opening remarks, the Director E-Commerce emphasized the critical role of e-commerce and digital trade in driving economic growth, improving service delivery, and creating opportunities for businesses across Solomon Islands. Participants were encouraged to strengthen inter-agency collaboration to ensure effective and timely implementation of NECS priorities.

The meeting provided an important platform for open dialogue and technical collaboration among stakeholders. Participants shared information and updates on their designated NECS strategic measure implementation and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to advance Solomon Islandsโ e-commerce development and adoption.
A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to formalize the NECS Coordination Mechanism through the establishment of a NECS Coordination and Monitoring Sub-committee.
MCILI, through the EIU, will continue to coordinate and support stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the NECS, ultimately enabling a more inclusive, resilient, and digitally empowered economy for Solomon Islands.

Digital Content Creation Training Concludes Successfully in Gizo
Gizo, Western Province โ The four-day Digital Content Creation Training for SMEs and Freelancers concluded today in Gizo, strengthening digital skills and e-commerce awareness in Western Province.
Participants gained practical skills in storytelling, scripting, video production, audio, lighting, and digital content creation, supported by hands-on exercises and group work. The training emphasized collaboration, with participants working in teams to apply their learning to real business and creative needs.
During the training, the E-commerce Implementation Unit (EIU) had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy Provincial Secretary, Mr. Collin Zamu, to provide an update on the training and engage in dialogue on opportunities for progressing e-commerce development in Western Province.
The training concluded with an awards and certification ceremony, recognizing participants for their successful completion of the program.
The EIU remains committed to working with provincial governments and partners to build capacity, raise awareness, and support the adoption of e-commerce across Solomon Islands.

๐ Day 4 Training Highlights Update | Gizo, Western Province
Yesterday was an important and rewarding day in our Digital Content Creation Training for SMEs and Freelancers in Gizo. Participants worked on their practical assignments, putting into practice the skills and knowledge gained throughout the training. It was encouraging to see strong collaboration, teamwork, and willingness to support one another as participants worked together to develop their digital content.
A key highlight of the day was a courtesy visit to the Western Provincial Government (WPG). The E-commerce Implementation Unit (EIU) team and trainers were privileged to meet with the Deputy Provincial Secretary, Mr. Collin Zamu.

Update WPG on progress made with the Digital Content Creation Training
Inform WPG about the establishment of the E-commerce Implementation Unit (EIU) and its role in leading the adoption and development of e-commerce in Solomon Islands
Explore opportunities for future collaboration in supporting digital entrepreneurs and SMEs in Western Province
Mr. Zamu welcomed the updates and expressed his appreciation for the training initiative and the work of EIU. He recognized the importance and relevance of e-commerce in growing businesses and building the capacity of entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital space, noting that e-commerce is an important area for WPG to consider in its future planning.
EIU remains committed to working closely with Western Provincial Government and other provinces to build awareness and capacity in e-commerce, support businesses and entrepreneurs with digital adoption, and coordinate with relevant government agencies to strengthen the enabling environment for e-commerce in Solomon Islands.

Day 3 of the Digital Content Creation Training for SMEs and Freelancers in Gizo, Western Province continues with more practical, hands-on learning!
Today we started with A-rolls and B-rolls, showing participants how to structure their videos using strong main shots supported by cutaway footage to tell clearer and more engaging stories. We also discussed how good audio quality greatly influences the effectiveness and professionalism of video content.
In addition, we touched on the importance of lighting, with a focus on the 3-point lighting setupโkey light, fill light, and back lightโto help participants achieve well-lit, professional-looking videos even with simple equipment.
