CALL FOR EQUIP FACILITATORS
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH are currently looking for experts in the area of evidence-based industrial policy making.
The โEnhancing the Quality of Industrial Policies (EQuIP)โ toolkit supports policymakers in developing countries to formulate and design evidence-based strategies for inclusive and sustainable industrial development and thereby strengthens the ability of, especially lower income countries, to manage their own future and to have a larger say in strategy-setting, policy formulation and their engagement with development partners.
Since its inception, the EQuIP toolkit has been deployed in numerous countries globally. It is an integral part of most of UNIDOโs industrial policy related projects and activities.
Therefore, UNIDO is organizing a programme to assess and accredit a group of individuals able to provide industrial policy advice, facilitate policy dialogue among different stakeholders and build the capacities of decision-makers and technocrats in developing countries, world-wide, using the EQuIP approach and methodology.
All tools are freely available on the EQuIP website: http://www.equip-project.org/.
Members of the public are invited to apply by filling the form on the following website by the 15th June 2021:
https://www.unido.org/form/EQuIP_registration
The accreditation addresses analysts and professionals from developed and developing countries globally. Potential candidates should have the following set of qualifications:
โข Have at least five years of practical experience working on industrial policy formulation/reform, policy planning, industrial policy M&E, economic development policies, and/or similar;
โข Proven academic expertise in development economics (including a degree in economics or similar) would constitute a distinct asset;
โข Previous exposure to EQuIP (e.g. as EQuIP Analytical (co-)Trainers) or its predecessor, the Competitive Industrial Performance (CIP) index would constitute an asset (including participation in the 2018 EQuIP training of trainers event).

MINISTER DEVIKA VIDOTโS MESSAGE FOR LABOUR DAY
The Ministry of Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry is dedicated to support businesses in their pursuit in the generation of wealth and creation of jobs in the country. Your businessโ success serves our Ministryโs purpose and we count on your partnership to succeed on this journey together. I would like to use this opportunity to remind employers that your employees are the most valuable assets of your business. Under the right conditions, your workers can be the most influential ambassadors of your business as they can transform your business idea into a successful and lucrative venture. In the same manner, your workers can greatly contribute to the failure of your business. This is an important concept that needs to be embraced by employers and employees alike. As much as a business owner wants to be successful, its workers also need to want the business to succeed as this will equally determine the security of their jobs. If both sides share the same vision then they will be able to work together towards a common goal.On Labour Day, employers are encouraged to appreciate and value their workers and workers are reminded to value their jobs through the demonstration of hard work, discipline and determination. Because we are journeying through a pandemic, I would like to remind employers of the importance to ensure the safety of staff in the workplace. To all workers, please take your responsibility and respect all public health regulations. A healthy workforce is the foundation of a stable and prosperous economy.
Happy Labour Day!
