As previously communicated during the year, the Ministry of Lands and Housing wishes to reiterate to members of the public that renovation works on Independence House are ongoing. At present, works are focused on clearing the old attic, located at the top of the building, as part of the renovation project. Consequently, furniture and old documents stored in this space are being removed to facilitate the upcoming works in that section of the building.
The public is kindly reminded to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures when accessing services at Independence House during this period.
As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA) also wishes to inform members of the public that it has relocated to its new premises at Bel Ombre (former STB building). This relocation forms part of the Agency’s strategy to improve operational efficiency and better respond to the needs of its customers.
To further facilitate access to services, SIA will be operating a public clinic every Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, on the Second Floor of Independence House.
Please note that SIA’s telephone number remains unchanged: 467 4460.
We thank members of the public for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during this transition.

16 new housing units officially open at Anse Aux Poules Bleues, Baie Lazare
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by President Wavel Ramkalawan, together with the Minister for Lands and Housing, Mr. Billy Rangasamy, and the Member of the National Assembly for Baie Lazare, Mr. François Adelaide amongst other distinguished guests.
During the ceremony, the new residents were proudly presented with the keys to their homes, officially beginning their journey as homeowners.
Launched in November 2023, the project comprises 8 three-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom units, providing quality accommodation for 16 families. Beyond the homes themselves, the development includes retaining walls, parking facilities with solar-powered lighting, a children’s playground, service ramps for accessibility, landscaped surroundings, and boundary walls, ensuring both functionality and community well-being.
In his remarks, Minister Rangasamy reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to sustainable housing projects that enable Seychellois families to thrive. He noted that “infrastructure is fundamental, it uplifts our economy and improves the wellbeing of our people,” while encouraging the new residents to uphold positive community standards.
Addressing the gathering, President Ramkalawan expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the project’s success. He highlighted Baie Lazare’s remarkable progress in recent years through housing initiatives, road upgrades, and coastal protection works. He also praised the new homeowners for their consistency in the Home Savings Scheme, urging them to create safe and supportive environments for their families.
The ceremony was further enriched by a blessing of the homes and lively performances from Baie Lazare Primary School students, adding cultural and community spirit to the event.
