Do you know what decanting wine is? 🍷🍷

Decanting a wine is moving the liquid in the bottle from its container to another (called a decanter) to remove any sediment accumulated over time.

The 3 main reasons why it is done are:

- Separate the lees from the wine
- Oxygenate the wine
- Add flavour to young wines

🌍🍴 🌱🥑 On this special day, let's not only enjoy delicious flavors but also understand the difference between "sustainable" and "sustainability". There are diverse perspectives on what constitutes a "sustainable" food system and the broad scope of "sustainability".

According to the European Commission, sustainability entails using resources at a pace that the Earth can replenish. In the context of food, a sustainable system encompasses a range of crucial factors: ensuring food supply, promoting health, safety, affordability, quality, fostering a robust food industry in terms of employment and growth, and importantly, environmental sustainability. This aspect relates to pressing concerns like climate change, biodiversity, water, and soil quality.

Embracing such principles, consuming foods like wine, tomatoes from sustainable European sources not only benefits you but also contributes positively to the planet. 🌎🍔🧀

Did you know?

The EU Green Pact aims to ""transform the EU into a just and prosperous society, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy, where there are no net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use"".

Many efforts are being made to achieve a more sustainable future through inventions, including in the field of agriculture, which is both heavily affected by climate change and a driver of it.

That is why any investment and innovation in the field of agriculture and livestock farming will enable us to remain one of the most sustainable regions in the world.
