Swedint As one of very few Training Centres we offer integrated education and training in an international environment.

The Swedish Armed Forces International Centre - SWEDINT prepares individuals and groups, national as well as international, for work in Peace Support Operations (PSO) in the framework of UN, NATO/Partnership for Peace (PfP) and EU missions. Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT) conducts individual education and training for military, police and civilian staff personnel in support of Peace Support Operations (PSO) led by UN, NATO, EU or other regional organisations. This creates a unique opportunity for preparations prior to participation in a PSO. To date participants from more than 120 countries have been provided with basic and/or directly PSO related education and training. SWEDINT is accredited by NATO as a Partnership for Peace (PfP) Training and Education Centre (PTC).

UNITED NATIONS DAY, 24 October

The UN Day is observed annually on October 24 since the UN Charter entered into force – and the UN was born - in 1945. The day highlights the aims, achievements, and ongoing mission of the UN, which include maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights, delivering humanitarian aid, and promoting sustainable development. The theme for 2026 is UNlimited Together, highlighting disability inclusion and the leadership of persons with disabilities.

Having trained and deployed many United Nations peacekeepers to international missions through the years, SWEDINT also on this day acknowledges the many men and women who have given their all for peace in missions around the world.

INCREASING WARFIGHTING CAPABILITY OF ALLIES AND PARTNERS

“Supporting IPSC’s Drone Awareness course in becoming certified as NATO Selected is at the core of what SWEDINT is about – increasing the warfighting capability of our allies and partners”, says SWEDINT’s Commandant, Colonel Richard Gray.

“We are committed to strengthening Allied institutional capacity and assisting the ISPC to become a fully NATO-accredited education and training facility is next on our agenda.”

Drone Warfare Awareness Course - First Certified drone course in NATO

The pilot iteration of the Drone Warfare Awareness Course (DWAC) was just delivered with successful results at SWEDINT. The proposal from NATO's Requirement Authority is that the course is certified as NATO Selected. The course is developed and delivered by the Ukrainian International Peacekeeping and Security Centre, supported by SWEDINT. The DWAC is thus the first drone course in NATO that will become NATO certified - a major contribution to the warfare capability of the Alliance.

Colonel Lothar Piepenbreier was one of the course participants -

We are extremely saddened to have to announce that our dear friend and colleague, Anthony Taylor left us yesterday after a long battle with cancer.

He was always ahead of us, and sadly even to this destination.

Anthony, we miss you.

Every May 29, Sweden's veterans are recognised through Veterans Day, a national tribute all over Sweden to all men and women who have served in international operations, military and civilian. SWEDINT was present in Stockholm as always, and amidst the meeting and greeting of veterans, tested their knowledge of the NATO Alliance in a quiz. Great weather, great day!

Effective NATO English: Enhancing your precision and influence

Swedish officers generally have a strong command of English, but what can a two-day course in NATO English truly offer?

“When you, as a staff officer, deliver a verbal briefing to a senior commander, your message must be concise and precise. SWEDINT’s course 'NATO English for Military Planners' focuses on familiarising you with the terminology used in NATO staff work to convey your message effectively,” explains Jacqueline Anwar, English language instructor at the Swedish Defence University.

The 'NATO English for Military Planners' (NEMP) course is geared toward staff officers and those at higher tactical levels, emphasising advanced operational planning. The course is conducted over two days at SWEDINT in Kungsängen, twice a year. The next session will occur in autumn 2026, with specific dates yet to be announced.
