is central to Singapore’s foreign policy – it is the bedrock of the region’s stability and prosperity. Through ASEAN, Singapore has deepened economic linkages and enhanced people-to-people ties across Southeast Asia. As one of ASEAN’s founding members, Singapore continues to benefit from the dynamic regional market and remains committed to working closely with Member States and partners to build a more prosperous, resilient and forward-looking region.
The 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Philippines, brought together the 11 ASEAN Member States to discuss ways to strengthen ASEAN integration and build a network of partnerships in today’s complex and uncertain world.
At the Summit, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting the Philippines’ Chairmanship agenda, strengthening regional resilience, and upholding international law for the benefit of Singaporeans and the people of Southeast Asia.
