You receive a call from:
1. A police officer saying you are part of an investigation – they might even accuse you of being involved in criminal activities;
2. A bank officer saying your bank account or credit card has been compromised; or
3. A government official (e.g. LTA, IRAS, MAS, MDDI) saying you have not paid your bill/fine or that your mobile number has been misused for scams.

The caller is even able to cite your full name and NRIC number. Sounds real?

Government officials will 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 do these things over a phone call:
4. Ask you to transfer money;
5. Ask you to disclose bank log-in details;
6. Ask you to install mobile apps from unofficial app stores;
7. Transfer your call to Police.

If you receive an SMS from the government, make sure it is sent from the 𝐠𝐨𝐯.𝐬𝐠 SMS Sender ID*.

𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐬? 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰:
8. Add the ScamShield app to block scam calls and filter scam SMSes
9. Add Money Lock to further secure a portion of your savings against scams
10. Call the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 to check if you are unsure if something is a scam.
11. Never disclose your bank log-in or credit card details to anyone.
12. Change any passwords you have that contain your NRIC number immediately.
