A landmark celebration of Italy’s Republic Day in Singapore 🇮🇹✨

The Embassy of Italy in Singapore marked Italy’s National Day with an official reception celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Republic, bringing together representatives of Singaporean institutions, the diplomatic corps, and members of the Italian and local communities.

The evening was honoured by the presence of Mr Desmond Choo 朱倍庆, Minister of State, Ministry of Defence, together with Ms Yeo Wan Ling and Ms Valerie Lee, Members of the Parliament of Singapore, whose participation reflected the close and longstanding relationship between 🇮🇹🇸🇬.

In his remarks, Italian Ambassador Dante Brandi recalled the historical significance of 2 June 1946 and the principles that continue to shape the Italian Republic today, while highlighting the growing cooperation between Italy and Singapore across multiple fields.

The ceremony featured both national anthems, performed by Mr Martin Ng Baritone.

80 years of the Italian Republic 🇮🇹

A decision taken in 1946 reshaped Italy’s democratic path and laid the foundations of the country we know today, through a historic referendum that also marked the first national vote in which Italian women exercised their right to vote.

This anniversary is not only about history, but also about people — in Italy and within the Italian community in Singapore 🇸🇬 — who continue every day to promote the culture, values and excellence of our country.

A shared heritage that continues to evolve, guided by the principles at the heart of the Republic.

A pattern repeats. A vibration travels. Something begins to return.

Elusive returns this year with two world premieres by (Italy/Germany) and / (South Korea), created with the dance artists of .

Each work unfolds from a clear line of inquiry, tracing how the body holds memory, sensation, and time.

In 𝘊𝘈𝘙𝘐𝘓𝘓𝘖𝘕, patterns inspired by the mechanics of the music box gather force as cycles begin to slip and destabilise. In 𝘖:𝘳𝘰, mourning moves through the body as vibration—felt, heard, and carried.

Building on years of collaboration with T.H.E. Dance Company, the choreographic duo unveils their first original creation conceived entirely with the company, shaped through nearly one month of artistic residency in Singapore and a process of daily exchange with the dancers. The project was realised with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Singapore.

Elusive is presented by T.H.E. Dance Company as part of , in collaboration with . The event is also included in the Asia-Europe Cultural Festival 2026 – Closing Curtain, organised by and .

A margine dello 2026 , il Ministro Guido Crosetto ha incontrato l’Ammiraglio Samuel Paparo, Comandante del Comando Indo-Pacifico degli Stati Uniti.
