Kampong Kakis once wondered... what would a bumping space at block 157 look like?
With that, we held our first storytelling session (Small Stories, Big Heart!), all shaped by residents themselves. From tossing around ideas to planning and stepping up. We started with small chats, now turning into meaningful connections! This space has slowly become something we built together. 🙂

Because sometimes, growth and healing happen in the presence of others 🤝✨
At Serangoon Moral FSC, our group work programmes offer a safe space to share, learn, and realise you aren't alone. We don't just gather to chat; we clinically design these sessions based on the community’s needs, empowering participants to support each other as ‘co-therapists’ and build emotional resilience.
We tailor our groups to focus on key life transitions. Our two most recent programmes include:
🚦 Pit Stop: A psycho-educational programme navigating the adolescent transition.
⛰️ Emerging Adulthood: A support group dedicated to the young adulthood transition.
Connection, reflection, and growth — guided by facilitators, driven by the community ❤️

Curious about life as an intern at SMFSC? Hear from Yasha, our NYP intern!
Her practicum gave her hands-on experience with diverse clients, helped her apply classroom learning, and discover her passion for volunteering. With guidance from caseworkers, Yasha overcame her fears and gained confidence in working with families.
Overall, the internship gave her a fresh perspective on social work and how she can make a difference 😊

Serangoon Moral Family Service Centre would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to this amazing group of donors who took the initiative to find out our beneficiaries’ needs and generously donated the requested electronics and vouchers. They even delivered the items personally all the way from their office in Tuas to our agency in Serangoon.
Thank you for going the extra mile and making a meaningful difference in our beneficiaries’ lives ❤️

Kampong Kakis wrapped up the year with our annual end of year celebration at Wildlife Forest. We spend the day in the nature with our tutors and tutees to celebrate a year of hard work. What a way to end our year in the nature! 🌳
Kampong Kakis is our very own volunteer matchmaking initiative. We welcome any individuals or groups who are keen to share their interests, passion and skills with the Serangoon community, to encourage a greater kampong spirit. We have embarked on resident-led academic coaching, block-based engagements as well as group gatherings with residents😊

Earlier this year, our team conducted a run of Pit Stop with a group of participants from Zhonghua Primary School through five weeks of fun and interactive learning ✨
During Week 3, our theme was Decision-Making, where our participants learnt the “Stop–Think–Go” model:
🛑 Stop – Don’t rush into a decision.
💭 Think – Consider your options and the possible consequences.
✅ Go – Choose the option with the best outcome and go for it!
To put this into practice, we played an immersive game of Jumanji where participants were faced with a series of challenges and choices. Each decision they made determined their outcome at the end of the game – a fun way to apply the Stop-Think-Go model in action!
Through the game, participants also learnt concepts like instant and delayed gratification through the weighing of short-term and long-term consequences.
Here are some snapshots from the session 📸
