Fort Canning, Singapore. One of the earliest grave markers in Singapore dating from 1859, barely 40 years since her establishment as a British trading post.

Torajan funeral procession, Sulawesi, Indonesia. A Torajan funeral is an expensive and elaborate event that can take years to plan. In the interim, the body of the deceased is embalmed and kept in a nearby house for the dead or even at home with the family.
The funeral itself takes place over several days during which time pigs and buffalo are sacrificed.

Sufi cemetery, Konya, Turkey. Formerly known as Iconium in Biblical Times, this city served as a base for the Apostle Paul. Today it is a center of Sufism and final resting place for the Rumi whose shrine can be seen in the background.
