On 11 May 2026, our team attended the NEA-AFD Funeral Industry Engagement Workshop 2026. This event brought together funeral professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to shape the next chapter of Singapore’s after-death services sector.
Co-hosted by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Association of Funeral Directors Singapore (AFD), the session sparked vital conversations on evolving family expectations, regulatory developments, and the future readiness of our profession.
The session was elevated by the presence of Senior Minister of State, Dr. Janil Puthucheary, who convened with industry leaders and community organizations. Together, they discussed how to make services more modern and community-focused. It proved that we are ready to change so we can keep supporting people in the best way possible.
The dialogue continued with a Q&A session moderated by Andrew Lau (Deputy Director, PCDD, NEA). The panel featured Ang Ziqian (Vice-President of AFD) alongside NEA leadership, including CEO Chew Ming Fai and Director Kwek Keng Chua. They highlighted that the future of after-death care is built through collaboration and a shared willingness to grow alongside the community.
During the discussion, Ang Ziqian (Vice-President of AFD) emphasized that industry progress relies on open communication to balance tradition with innovation. The most significant takeaway mentioned by him in the session remains our guiding principle: To continue serving every family with care, compassion, and dignity.

The Qing Ming Festival is with us again.
It will be time for us to offer our prayers to our ancestors as a form of respect. Qing Ming is an ancient custom passed down to us by our parents and grandparents. We want this culture to continue and passed down to our future generations.
This way, the memories we share will forever live on in our hearts.
