Here's a friendly reminder to observe the safe use of escalators and lifts this June holiday 👇

✅ Hold the handrail and stand within the yellow lines.
✅ Young children should always be accompanied and closely supervised by an adult.
✅ Move away promptly from the landing area after alighting.
✅ If you're using a trolley, pram, luggage or carrying bulky items, take the lift instead.

Our content producer is on leave, but safety never takes a holiday 🫶

This World Environment Day, we celebrate professionals like Wenjie who contributes to shape a more sustainable Built Environment (BE) future for all.

For over a decade, Wenjie has been helping the BE sector improve sustainability performance – from driving energy efficiency improvements to advancing carbon accounting and sustainability reporting.

His journey shows that climate action isn't limited to environmental scientists or activists. It can happen through the buildings we design and build. Be part of the next generation of BE advocates to drive change and build for a greener future 🌱

: Workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility. We encourage employers, supervisors and workers to remain vigilant, address unsafe conditions early, and make workplace safety a priority every day.

More information on workplace safety and health can be found at https://www.mom.gov.sg/workplace-safety-and-
health

In view of recent workplace fatalities, the Ministry of Manpower urges contractors in the construction industry to conduct a voluntary Safety Time-Out from 20 May to 3 June 2026 to review their workplace safety practices, reinforce safe work procedures, and remind workers of the importance of workplace safety vigilance.

In May 2026, there have been two fatal construction accidents.
• One case involved a banksman being struck by a falling concrete section during hacking process.
• The other case involved a site supervisor who was struck by pallets of bricks when the canopy structure which the pallets were placed on gave way.

Both accidents were clearly preventable.

These accidents underscore the importance of maintaining vigilance and ensuring that proper safety measures are in place at worksites. It is imperative that companies prioritise workplace safety and reinforce safe work procedures at their worksites.

Employers and supervisors must ensure that proper risk assessments are conducted, safe work procedures are adhered to, and workers are adequately briefed on workplace hazards and control measures. Workers should also remain vigilant and speak up if they encounter unsafe situations.

Workplace safety is a choice and a shared responsibility. When all stakeholders – employers, supervisors, and workers – make the decision to prioritise safety in every decision and action, we can keep workplaces safe for everyone.
