On 12 May, CAPITAL 958 城市频道 ’s Liang Ping hosted a podcast with RSVP Volunteer Trainer Kia Siang Hock to explore how AI is opening up new possibilities for seniors. Drawing on experience in AI development dating back to the early years of his career, Siang Hock shared how today’s AI tools—with their growing range of features and increasingly reliable results—have made AI courses especially popular among seniors for their practical value and everyday usefulness. During the course, he encourages seniors to use AI thoughtfully and not accept every response at face value—an important skill in building confidence and digital literacy.

𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 was a joyful celebration of the strong and lasting bond between 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 and our volunteers. Nearly 250 volunteers gathered at Orchid Country Club for a memorable day filled with laughter, friendship, and heartfelt appreciation. With high spirits, the day was also a meaningful opportunity to honour the journey we have shared over the years. Our volunteers have been at the heart of RSVP Singapore’s mission — generously giving their time, energy, and care to mentor others, guide fellow seniors, and champion important causes such as health and scam awareness. Their dedication has helped shape not just programmes and initiatives, but a community built on trust, compassion, and purpose.

A particularly touching moment was the screening of the “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗲” video, which reminded us all that RSVP is much more than an organisation — it is family, a support network, and a place where lasting friendships and meaningful contributions continue to grow. We are deeply grateful for every volunteer who has walked this journey with us, and we look forward to many more years of impact and connection together.

They were both genuinely surprised and neither expected to hear their names called. Yet that was exactly what happened when 𝗠𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗼 and 𝗠𝗿 𝗞𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗰𝗸 were honoured as RSVP’s 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 and 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿-𝘂𝗽 recipients at the recent 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 . Alice joined RSVP as a young senior who ignites every programme she touches with compassion and leadership. As a leader in the Enriching Lives of Seniors Programme, she collaborates with fellow volunteers to plan activities that enhance seniors physical and cognitive well-being. Alice is also a volunteer guide at the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery and an Assistant Trainer with RSVP's Digital and Applied Learning services for seniors. When asked about receiving the award, Alice shared that she was surprised and did not expect to be recognised, but felt deeply encouraged by the support around her. In her free time, she loves to watch dramas and experiment with cooking.

RSVP's courseware developer for AI courses and an IT Trainer, Siang Hock is a real asset to RSVP as he goes the extra mile in every volunteering role and is always ready to lend his support. His willingness to step up whenever needed is truly heartening. Like Alice, Siang Hock was surprised by the honour and shared that he did not expect to win. On a personal note, he enjoys getting on the road in his neighbourhood and jogs two to three times a week.

Both award recipients shared the same simple encouragement for anyone thinking about volunteering: “Just go for it, take the first step”. In their experience, volunteering is deeply rewarding, and along the way you’ll gain friendships, purpose and a sense of joy that makes every effort worthwhile.

We are grateful to Nunchi Marine for their strong support of the 𝗡𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 over the past two years. To-date we have empowered close to 2,000 seniors with preventive healthcare knowledge and improved access to professional healthcare services through our Health Advocates. And we cannot do this alone.

As we take this programme to the next level, we are pleased to welcome another healthcare partner Fullerton Health Singapore, a leading integrated healthcare solutions provider to the programme.

📜To formalise the partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was inked by Ms Genevieve Chua, Chairperson, 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 and Mr Derrick Chan, Managing Director, Singapore and Malaysia, 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, at the 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on 𝟳 𝗠𝗮𝘆. Nunchi Marine, CEO, Mr Henry Song and RSVP Singapore Executive Director, Ms Edna Claudine Leong, also joined on stage as witnesses.

The collaboration marks another milestone in this programme where corporate resources are well placed to support growing programmes that serve and uplift the needs of the community they serve. We are excited to work with both Fullerton Health and 1doc to bring preventive healthcare to the community. Together, we can work towards achieving more meaningful milestones towards preventive healthcare for the community!

𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 is a special day dedicated to our volunteers who are active shapers of change to the communities they serve. On 7 May 2026 close to 250 volunteers came together at the Orchid Country Club for 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. 🪭Themed “Shanghai Tang’ everyone came decked in costumes of the era, watched performances and participated in the lucky draw. Beyond appreciation, it was a celebration of the spirit of volunteerism and giving. At the same time,𝟯𝟯𝟯 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 who have contributed at least 36 hours of service in 2026, were recognized for their time, passion, and commitment.

👏One of the highlights of the event was presentation of the prestigious 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 to two extraordinary individuals who exemplify the true spirit of volunteerism:

Our 2nd baking workshop with Down Syndrome Association - Singapore (𝗗𝗦𝗔) learners was bursting with joy — and even a few proud dads joined in!

On 25 April (Saturday), 14 learners, together with their parents, caregivers, and volunteers, came together to create Mother’s Day high tea gift sets featuring bakery-style ring buns, mini jam jars, and tea bags.

The best part? Dough time! Guided by Elaine, everyone got hands-on — squish, press, fold — kneading their dough in plastic bags while counting out loud in happy rhythm. Laughter, cheers, and a bit of friendly “who’s faster?” filled the room as the dough turned soft and springy. It was messy, lively, and so much fun you’d wish you were right there with them!

While the buns baked, volunteer Christine led a cheerful craft session where learners folded and decorated colourful paper fans, each one a unique, heartfelt creation.

With the smell of freshly baked bread in the air, it was a day full of laughter, creativity, and proud little moments. A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers from 𝗥𝗦𝗩𝗣 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲— 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗴, 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗵, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗵, 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗸 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗴, 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗺 𝗟𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗮𝗻 — for making it all happen!🌺
