International Day of UN Peacekeepers 29 May

This day is dedicated to all UN peacekeepers whose work promotes international peace and security. It is also a moment to honor those who have lost their lives while serving.

Since the first peacekeeping mission was established in 1948, over 2 million peacekeepers from 125 countries have served under the UN flag. Established and tasked by the UN Security Council, they have worked to protect populations, advance non-violent solutions to conflict, and build foundations for safe and stable societies.

Since 1956, Finland has contributed close to 60,000 troops, police, and civilian personnel to approximately 30 UN peace operations and those mandated by the UN. Building on this experience, we actively support and contribute to developing UN peace operations. 🇫🇮 🇺🇳

There’s something very Finnish about salmon soup 😋 No complicated techniques, a short ingredient list and some time to let it simmer.

Would you enjoy some lohikeitto with rye bread?

TEMPO is a captivating exploration of time: its acceleration, deceleration and moments when it seems to stand still. At its core is a mundane event turned extraordinary, highlighting life’s fragility through moments of falling, stumbling and near-accidents.

Directed by Finnish visual artist and magician Kalle Nio, with choreography by Fernando Melo and music by Samuli Kosminen, Tempo blends text, movement, and mesmerising stage illusions where time reverses, gravity vanishes, and the laws of nature dissolve. Dreamlike, wordless scenes alternate with rhythmic compositions for prepared metronomes and Harry Salmenniemi’s poignant text about time’s strange elasticity.

Through magic and movement, Tempo invites audiences to pause, reflect, and truly feel the present moment.
