Singapore to enter Phase 2 of reopening from Jun 19.

Attached here is the circular on the measures to be taken in preparation for swimming pools (SPs) and water fountains (WFs) which will be allowed to re-open and re-start after 18 June 2020, 2359hrs.


The National Environment Agency (NEA) would like to remind all owners/occupiers of relevant premises with SPs and WFs to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection and ensure water samples pass the regulated limits stipulated in the Environmental Public Health (Swimming Pools) Regulations before re-opening of SPs and Environmental Public Health (Cooling Towers and Water Fountains) Regulations before re-starting of WFs. This is to ensure the SPs and WFs do not pose a public health risk, as failure to do so could result in the potential spread of Legionellosis and other water-borne diseases. You may refer to the ‘Guidelines for Managing Water Quality for Cooling Towers, Swimming Pools and Water Fountains during the Period of Heightened Safe Distancing Measures’ for more details.

The water treatment regime shall revert to the pre-Circuit Breaker period after thorough cleaning.

Please note that labs are available for testing of the regulated water quality parameters and Total Legionella Counts (TLC).
